New book gives tips on avoiding heartbreak

Falling in love is a wonderful thing, but nobody wants to get hurt in the process, and one young writer has written a book on how to avoid heartbreak.

Bouakeo Khensabab, a 21-year-old business administration student at Souksavath College in Vientiane , published his first book, The Famous Friendship, earlier this year.

His second book, Never Ever Hurt in Love, is 64 pages of short pieces of advice, written in a cool and conversational style, and ends with a short story portraying the joys of love, as well as the pain and disappointment it can bring.

He first started to write this book when he was in high school, inspired by the many other books his friends were reading on the subject, and from his own real-life experiences with love.

At the time, it never occurred to him that it would one day end up in print.

“It's very different from the first book I published, because that one was mainly profiles of people in the entertainment industry, along with some prominent business leaders,” he says.

“But this new book focuses on how to avoid getting hurt by love, and I spent a lot of time looking for a voice that many readers would identify with.”

“I hope this first edition will be useful for readers who are 15 or over, or in fact anyone who has had experience with love. My aim is for people to understand the path of love and where it can take them,” he said.

Bouakeo is now working on a second edition of The Famous Friendship, which he hopes will be finished by the beginning of next year.

“The second edition will have more pages. I basically wanted to improve the content, so I've included more personalities from various walks of life, as well as further reflections on how so many people become well-known,” he says.

Bouakeo is training to become a TV presenter, a job he applied for several months ago. In just a few weeks, viewers will be able to see him on their screens, but he will not as yet reveal on which show, or even on which station.

“That's for me to know and you to find out,” he says.
