I cannot read the content of this article but I feel that Mr. Roberto Baggio set a good example for western people. The Lao traditional towel, which he used, is really suited him when he met with a monk. Other person might not bother to do like him. That means he is a real educated person knowing how to respect other nation's culture.

Someone probably put pah bieng on for him. I doubt if he know of the tradition. Beside the meaning of put that on is as a reminder that you are taking the Precepts for a Buddhist. If you not a Buddhist and you have it on it really meaningless.

ok rough translation.

There is a visit from a famous soccer Italian soccer player Roberto Baggio. He met some head monk name Vivhit Singhalat. I am guessing but the monk is president of what can be translated like a Buddhism heritage foundation. They did some offering. Then he met some guy name Thongloun Sisoulith (prime minister?). It is like American secretary of state. He went join a soccer game where the Laos national team was playing. He met with some guy name Phouthong Sangsakhom (maybe the president of the an athletic association?)

I hate translating. That enough for me. Maybe someone can do it better than I can.

But i dont think he respects our leader, because he doesnt wear suit while paying courtesy call on H.E.Thongloun Sisoulite, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (Secretary of State)...

I dont care how famous he has been, but if he doesnt respect our leader means he doesnt respect our people either..
