It is sad that our tree will be gone, it is sad our mineral resources will be gone, it is sad our elephants will be gone but that just the way things are. How can you or I stop people from enjoying themselves? It is like our kids. We love them so much when they are baby but they grow up and do things that they do. In your mind you still want them to be adorable and huggable baby we use to remember. That is all we going to have......a memories.cry

ohhh I am sorry for my wrong writing...:D

Goverment = Government
will not disappear = will disappear

I apologize about that.

Thank you.

For the Saffron, You are right...Somehow, we have to stop the habit of our kids too before poeple could not regornize that is your kids. I need everyone to be the one....
                    - do not lose mind to other people
                    - do not follow the style of other people in the wrong way
                    - if we want to follow them, we should follow the way to develope economics of country, how to be good students, how to show off our abilities which people has never done before.

Besides that, we should not let other country bring our resource out off our country.
Lao who is in home land or out off home must love being lao.
You (who is not in homeland) should come back to the home country to develope our country. Please forget the story in the pass. we are now with the new face, new situation.

Thanks again

Hehehe ! everything change even big rocks change its shape when exposed directly to the heat or rain or wind. the lao women in the very begining of last century wore nothing to hide their breast except when they went to the temple or pagoda, it was fine, no body noticed it, and men wore nothing more than a piece of cloth to hide their sex, Hehe ! when people go for a bath in the the river they took off their small cloths and went down in the water wearing nothing... strange ? no ! everybody used to see it and took no notice of it...but now, everything had changed and continue to change, people ( especialy women ) have their face convulsed by shame when seeing other people don`t put enough cloth to cover their body HaHaHa ! what can we do ? Nothing or pas grand-chose ! Yes saffron, your are right, we cannot hug our children when they become teen, we cannot even stop them to do what they had decided to do...thanks heaven ! I have no daughter Hehe ! .so... let it be ! like one of The Beatles`s songs...All that we are going to have are ... good memories... About our mineral resources , we cannot affort to keep them remain buried undergrownd for eternity...also for the trees, let`s cut them and make fine furnitures for export and let`s plant others trees to replace them... so, don`t be sad !

Thanks and regards !

wowww Chiip!!!! how could you have such idea... If everyone has the same idea as yours then everything will be finished and we will have nothing.
People should do something better not make it worse!!!! how do you think about that?...
If we can stop not good thing then we must stop it. Like...Thai often make trouble with Lao, we must prevent.

We should be ourselves lah....

This problem must be solved

thanks for your quick reply, Hehehe ! what a stupid idea I had Ok? I only follow the course and evolution of the lao history... did you know that we nearly lost the hole laos to thailand if the french were not there and threaten to put Bangkok under the firing of canons from french warshipsin Thai golf if they don`t go back to the right side of the Mekong ...It is not that I love so much frenchmen and all this sad lao history happened by the selfish of our leaders in that time who always fought between themselves and lost huge part of lao land...and the same thing which happened centuries ago might happen again....as you mentioned earlier about losing trees, elephants and so on ... but what can we do ? I `m not a leader... I`m worn out thinking about injustices happening in our society... we have to endure it as our fathers had undured in the past...under the french colonization but for us , in different way ... Yes , the lao history had to run its course as it had been traced by God ! believe it or not ! Inch Allah !

Thanks and Regards

Well said Mr. Chiip. I am in your side ( I think you know me). One should understand that our current leaders are trying hard to preserve the best things what we have. However, not all we can do but we try our best. Of course, our leaders will not do like dictators who absolutely force people do what people don't want to do.
Good or bad people can make judgement and what suits them.
 Now is 21 century, actually.

Talking about our good culture, surely it will be kept forever, no doubt. As always Lao women prefer to wear the Lao Sinh, which would never be disappeared in Lao society. Actually, Lao women like to wear according to occassion or depending on situation. When Lao women go to temples, goverment office, special parties or ceremonies, they definitely wear Lao Sinh. However, when they go to some places some women also can dress like western people do. I think, that is nothing bad but kind of part of globalization.

Talking about our mineral resources, definitely foreigners now cannot do like French or American colony rulers did. Foreigner companies are our partners, they have to follow our Lao Law. In this matter, I think we don't need to doubt.

I wonder why the person posted this topic worries about the sexy dance :

http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=98894&p=3&topicID=13915872

Judging from the screen, this show was in USA, but not in Laos. Having watched the VIdeo clip, I felt that their performance is quite professinal. I like it.

Come on Handsome boy, because we do not want anyone to take over us. We open eyes and mind to accept those thing. However, that is too over for our traditional. We can be famous without show sexy dance because there are many people do that.
Moreover, we should stop import garlic, chicken, and other, which we can plant by ourselves, from Vietnam, Thailand, china, etc. We should not sell fishes (fresh water fish) to Thailand and by their fishes to sell in Laos. Because we sell to them in cheaper  comparing  the price when buy them back. If we want to sell to Thailand, we should sell legally.

We should stop buying rice from Thailand because we have enough rice for Lao people. We should stop using Thai Bath for buying and selling something products.

Please encourage each other to use Lao product.

Sorry that I could not explain so interesting.

Thanks for your attention

Because there are many people who has such idea as you. So that, it is hard to be the one.

Have you ever think the way of improving our country?

Thank you

I feel that this person really lives in dark place or far away from Laos. He doesn't know anything about Laos. The way he commented is similar to idea when Laos was before 1990, meaning when Laos was closed to the world.

Nowadays, every country tries hard to enter to globalization community. Laos is no exception. Now Laos is a member of many International orginization such as ASEAN and the like. For the ASEAN member, there is an agreement among them( ASEAN + China, South Korea and Japan), which is called FTA (Free Trade agreement). Besides Laos is also trying to become a member of WTO. By doing so, Laos hopes to be a competative place, where people around the world can come and do bussiness in Laos. Consequently, Lao people would enjoy with lots of opportunities such as getting jobs, and after all getting better life.

Talking about importation of neighboring countries, if Lao government stoped all products from other countries, definitely the situation in Laos would become like hell. As market rule, when you have no or have less such products, but the demand is high, the price of such products would be increased, no doubt. In addition to that Lao people would have less option to choose. In short, like this Laos had tried alredy before 1990. As a result, Lao people become poor and poorer.

We now open our coutry to world. Every Lao people who live in Laos really support our government policy. Our live is improving day by day. As for balance between import and export, Laos also exports some products to other countries. Although the exportation is less than importation, we cannot do anything now when we don't have such product enough. Of course, if we have enough such product with quality, definitely the foreign product would not be needed. By that time Lao government does not need to ban the import product because nobody would buy their product and no sinngle company would import from outside any more.

Yes, I really agree with SJCALSBM3. Let market develop by itseft, it is the best way that we need to accept. And this as we all know our government is doing now.

Regards,

To View no 30 and all,

1. I do not want to lose our culture
2. I do not want any one to take over us
3. I do not want any one to take our traditional and say that belong to them
(Khan, Songs...are taken by Thailand)
4. I do not want our people import (chilly, garlic, etc) something which we can plant or creat by ourself

Culture and language are one of the important sections beside socienty section and other sections.

I hope that you understand what i have mention and write this topic.

Thank you

it seems like you like to be a control freak. the lao goverment have alot to worry about such as economy, and how to run the country the way you think laos will never be developed, it always will be backwater of the country in SEA. Laos will be illiterate, will not be in advance thinking, will always think they same way as they did 200 years ago.
lets leave the culture alone i love lao culture barnone but come on this is an entertainment and pop culture. don't be too tightwid, pls be more open minded open your eye. this is no wonder everytime i read some articles the author is always started the saying "Laos is the poorest country in SEA" this is piss me off and people like you is holding them from advancing the idea and mind.

Laos is a corrupt country and its government. I hope the U.S will force remove these Lao leaders out of power. We are talking about the development of the Lao people and the country. And you do not see any changes with these old corrupt Lao leaders.

New government and leadership is needed in Laos. Maybe one day we will see something happening in Laos in the near future like Libya.

How could you're hoping that the U.S. will force removing Lao leaders out of power? There's nothing couldn't be happened if  the insiders of Laos are not moving their right to protest and oust the Laos communist govt first, then let the govt. forces  killed at least 3000 protesters then U.N. will have right to start their process to protect civilians from there.

I don't think the U.S. won't interesting to oust Lao communist govt. at all coz Laos doesn't have oil like Libya and or the other Arab countries.  Look a sample from Thai Govt. had done to the Red Shirts, Obama wasn't even thinking to stick his nose to Thailand business coz Thailand have nothing for them to interest and to make money.
