Arrival of management and Lao staff at Phnom Penh International Airport

On March 16, 2008, at the Phnom Penh International Airport, ACLEDA Bank (Lao) delegation — management and staff — have arrived in Cambodia to join the training course at ACLEDA Bank Cambodia.

Mr. Vann Saroeun, ACLEDA Bank (Lao) General Manager, "before we open our bank in Lao, the ACLEDA Bank Plc. headquartered in Cambodia had taken a feasibility study in Laos PDR since 2006 and we received a preliminary license in 2007. Now ACLEDA Bank (Lao) has received 54 Lao staff who had taken training in theory in Laos already, now we bring them to Cambodia to gain working experiences from on-the-job training here at ACLEDA Bank (Cambodia), so that we can start our operations smoothly after the inauguration at the end of May."

Among the 54 Lao staff, there are 16 Credit Officers, 11 Cashiers, 11 Accountants, 8 Marketings, 5 Administrators, 2 Human Resources, and 1 Internal Audit. Before serving their positions, all staff have to pass the training courses both theory and hand-on practice, to ensure they have enough experiences to provide the best services in a professional manner to customers in line with ACLEDA Bank's vision and mission.

Mr. In Channy, President & CEO of ACLEDA Bank Plc., welcomes ACLEDA Bank (Lao) staff

According to Mr. Thong Chandara, VP & Head of Training Center, the training course was separated into two parts, (i) 15 days for theory and (ii) 35 days for hand-on practices at ACLEDA Bank in the Kingdom of Cambodia. After complete the course, the delegation will return to Laos on May 11, 2008 to be ready for the inauguration of ACLEDA Bank (Lao) Ltd. in the end of May 2008.

Ms. Vanh Vilay, one among the Lao staff who come to join this on-the-job training, was enthusiastic and made a precisely decision base on her capability to join the bank. ACLEDA Bank is a leading bank in Cambodia and she strongly believes that it will be a leading bank in Lao in the future too. She will absorb the best practices from Cambodia as much as possible to serve customers in Laos to become a success like it is in Cambodia.

Mr. In Channy, President & CEO of ACLEDA Bank, recently told a local news agent that it is the Cambodia's proud that we have expanded our operation abroad to include Laos where we have three branches. We have expanded our branches into foreign countries because we have been successful in our own country. Laos' economic situation resembles ours and also has a culture similar to ours. When we conducted a survey there, people said they needed financial services. Therefore, we will use our already successful methods and business model there.

Now ACLEDA Bank has the largest branch network in the Kingdom of Cambodia which has 204 offices all provinces/towns, staff 4,888 (as at February 29, 2008) and expanding its operation abroad. One of many parts that push ACLEDA Bank to successful because the bank has competent human resources with professional manner and good moral that win its customers satisfaction and trust.

This is a sign of more FDI and more competition as well. Local bank must be aware of this, strengthen their self to prevent losing theirs own market to foreigners.

I was just in Savannakhet las the whole month of June. I was able to use an ATM there, the one infront of the market building. It couldn't really be the first ATM in Savannakhet. Regardless of that, it is good to know that they have more ATM machines there. This will increase money and business flow in this sleepy city.
