The federation is hopeful Lao fighters can win gold medals at the SEA Games to be held in Vientiane next year.

Twenty-five nations sent kick-boxers to compete in the event, which comprised of 45, 48 and 51 to 91kg weight divisions for men and 45 to 67 kg categories for women.

The Lao Star Television Channel and Km5 Concrete Company provided funds to enable the national muay lao team to compete in the event.

Despite winning medals at the cup, the fighters are not guaranteed a place in the national team, but will have to prove their skills at the eighth National Games to be held in Champassak province in December.

Lao national trainer Mr Somsa-nga Phimmachan said winners from the national muay lao competition to be held in Vientiane next year would be eligible to join the national team for the SEA Games.
