Typhoon Ketsana kills 8 in Cambodia

There has been a lot of update regarding the effect of Ketsana to Cambodia and Vietnam but haven't heard about Laos. Below is only what I gathered. Does anyone here has any update or photos at least?

"We received around 220mm from 9am yesterday through to this morning, most of it between 9pm and 3am. We are still experiencing some drizzle this morning though it looks like the puff has gone out of the rain.

A portion of town closer to the Sedon River is experiencing minor flooding with a number of houses flooded on their lower level (perhaps 0.5-1m for most of these houses). One of our staff members has been moving things upstairs in her house since 3am. The river is lapping at the top of its high-level banks, which is quite a sight, cutting off villages on the other side. The market also has been flooded since early this morning, and the new drainage system hasn't quite coped with the inundation of storm flow. We heard public announcements on Monday and Tuesday warning us to prevent catching malaria, but nothing about the storm itself. I have not heard of any casualties. Town water is out as is the phone line, and power has been off and on.

The most serious concern is what will happen to the rice. A lot of farmers were harvesting their rice furiously over the weekend, but for rice crops that are not yet mature, there will be plenty of lodging and damage, and heartache for the farmers.

For several villages along the Salavan - Pakse Road, where drainage is poor, they are experiencing flooding as well."

Typhoon Ketsana kills 8 in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed
Tuesday by the impacts of Typhoon Ketsana that hit Kompong Thom
Province, about 230 kilometers northeast of Cambodia's capital Phnom
Penh, according to local television.

According to Television Channel 3 of Phnom Penh Municipality on
Tuesday night, at least eight people were killed and a dozen others
injured after the typhoon landed Sandan District around 4 p.m. on
Tuesday.

It said the typhoon also destroyed dozens of houses.

The storm hit Cambodia just one day after Prime Minister Hun Sen
issued a directive alerting his people that the country would be hit
by typhoon Ketsana and appealed the authorities at all levels to take
all necessary measures to protect the people who might be affected by
the typhoon.

The Philippines is the worst hit country by Typhoon Ketsana as
more than 240 people were reportedly killed. Over 20 others were
killed in Vietnam after the typhoon made landfall in the country.
