In sum, I just said that the food from Laos, Thailand and Cambodia are just similar.  Maybe, there has been the cultural exchange among us for a long times.

I've been to Cambodia once and the food is also nice but not spicy. I ask the tourguide, he said Cambodia don't eat spicy food. Some menu look like Tom Yum Soup but I taste it, it not spicy taste but you can get the smell from the herbs.

Well, I like all of these foods from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. But accept Burmese food which I never try yet.

Don't even waste your time and money! I'm not trying to sabotage the restaurant or anything. If you're looking for real authentic Laotian taste, this restaurant will  disappoint your taste bud and your pocket as well.

I spent $120.00 on food for carry out I ended up fixed every dishes and  the 3 of us were still hungry another word for that amount of money there should be some left over or at least fill full. The food that I've bought have only chicken, beef, fish, and pork. There was not even shrimp dish for the amount of money that was spent.
Never again will I ever go back there!disbelief

I don't understand that why Thai they called some food menu from north-east part (iisan) are thai food infact they just brought and a little adapted and the north-east part used to call lao food menu, iisan just new name of that part.
Every time I heard they present the food of thai esp iisan food they dont mention that the food is influenced of lao food or same as lao food even the food is lao food %biggrin or I missed info.
An ex. like Chinese, Korean and Japanese food, they cook food three of them but they are still respect the original name and source even was adapted but still said the food was influenced from food of chinese or korean or japanese.................balabalablaaaaaaa.................

Mostly Thai's don't know that food originaly came from Laos or Isaan, many of the dishes have become standard food throughout Thailand, like tomakune (somtam) or tomyungkune. The same has happened for many Chinese and Malasian foods that have migrated north. Kao mung Gai certainly isn't Thai or Moo daeng.

Seem like you are the one don't know anything even your spelling words also wrong.

What is Tomakune or Tomyungkune? Is is in Japanese language?

If you mean Tam-bak-hoong,

Kao Mung Gai? Is it Khao Mun Kai?

Khao Mun Kai is original by Chinese whom migrated from S. China to Malay peninsular but at the present day they still fighting who is the original one between Singapore & Chinese Malaysia. Look at the Thailand. In Thailand is also have Chicken Rice but I think it's spreding by Chinese people who traveling by southern part of Thailand & Maylaysia so it might have some exchange about food to each other so it might be the same incident between Laos food to Thai food by Isan people.

Indonesian people also saying that Maylasia also stealing kind foods from Indo food and presented to be their own. But actually this is quite sensitve to talk about.

We are here, better to talk about the foods and better to avoid to talk about these sensitive things

I believed you are not Lao but Chinese-Lao who don't even speak Lao clearly, isn't it?

I'm so sad and feel so sorry to your mother that never teach you well.

San-donh or Sand Bar is easy to drill but San-dahn or Inborn Trait is difficult to dig out

Isan is part of Thailand and not Lao. So Isan Food is become one of the Thai food automatically. You got it?

If there are 2 dishes of Chicken Rice+Sauce+Soup. One is Thai Style Cooking and another one is Malaysian Chinese Style Cooking. Which dish will you choose?

I choose Thai dish as I knew it's more delicious and also tasty and spicy Chilli sauce and tasty soup. I tried once Singapore Chicken rice and Malaysian Chicken rice. The sauce is tasteless so so...really

Many we are here understood what you were mention above Iisan is a part of Thai, is not Lao but before do some thing should be respect to the origal and source of thing from the begining.
As we known Thai and Iisan are new names both names just named or called after Lao, we could say Thai and Iisan came after Lao, by history Siam is not cover Iisan.

Every thing is up to web master will do or not, here is free to do any comments, even you use this web board with anonymous name and no one complain you. Please if you are Lao try to open your mind more than what you are being now.

I like your persistence. Whether the land is in Laos or Thailand doesn't change the fact that the people living in Issan eat Lao food.

People from all over the world are now falling in love with Lao food now that Laos has become a new popular tourist destination.

Please encourage more people to use the name "Lao cuisine" rather than Thai/Issan because we have to stick to our roots regardless of where Lao people live.

laolaleuak, I applaud you for being a smart and proud member of our Lao community! Lao food is delicious and it's time we let the world know about our cuisine!

p.s. every popular Asian cuisine has "modernized" aka modified their dishes to suit the Western taste, so I don't have any problems with people serving modern Lao dishes as long as they are still good. As long as they keep the name "Lao cuisine", traditional or modern dishes are okay in my book!

really? laos is only somtum, so whu thai have to call lao cuisine. Tom yum, etc are from laos or China?
If you think that your food is yummy and great, why don't you prove by showing farangs overseas. All you can do is just say that belongs to laos this belongs to laos, No wonder why some of you guys are so narrow-minded.
Food in every countries are shared and mixed by lots of countries like in EU and Asia. Some countries doesn't have any exactly evidences to prove that their foods belong to their countries, so if you really have an exactly evidences just prove it.
And if you think Isan is used to Laos, just keep thinking and saying OK? cus it's in the part.
If you guys want stick in the part, go on, I don't care.

Do we need to Thanks to Thai people and Thai Restaurants who promoted Lao food to the world? Why they never put the named "Laos Food" but they put Thai Isan Food or NorthEastern Thai Food instead.
