China influence rising in Laos

HANOI - THE man widely expected to become China's next leader will seek to boost his country's fast-growing ties with Laos during a visit on Tuesday, as Beijing competes with Vietnam for influence in the small but resource-rich nation, observers say. Vice-President Xi Jinping will meet his Laotian counterpart during the 'very important' one-day stop, Lao government spokesman Khenthong

Even Cambodia,Singapour, Indonesia could not escape China influences, also China is number 1 investing in Lao, Thailand is the second.....while USA comes First in Vietnam ( USA is the biggest investors in Vietnam ).

vietnam is certainly better than Laos,american investors are smart and have a bright future with their business in Vietnam, but as for chinese investor, they are just want ourĀ  natural resources such as building the dam, digging to find the gold, silver and copper, building casino. i hope that sun paper industry will creat many jobs for lao ppls and protect the good environment.

( Chinese vice president vows to consolidate friendship with Laos

(KPL) Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping told Lao people in Vientiane on Wednesday that China will consolidate traditional friendship with Laos.

Untitled-1-ffd.jpgXi made the remarks when meeting with a group of Lao people who have a long friendship with China. They include Lao Communications, Transport, Post and Construction Minister Sommath Pholsena and Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Khemmani Pholsena.

During the meeting, Xi said the close friendship between China and Laos is forged by leaders of older generation and enriched by peoples of the two countries for generations.

Xi said China and Laos have decided to establish comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. He expected the two countries to carry on the traditional friendship, promote mutual beneficial cooperation in all fields and make new contribution to develop bilateral relations.

The two ministers expressed their appreciation to Xi for meeting with them. They said the meeting demonstrates the deep friendship between the two peoples.

They also said Lao people vow to carry on friendship with China and push forward friendly cooperation between the two countries.
