New Hotels in Laos

Seems like Laos has been in a hotel building boom the past couple of years.

Here's the new 5 star hotel in Laos.

Hopefully that new hotel stays classy and doesn't become like Don Chan palace where you can't walk 10 feet without being approached by a hooker.  So many hookers looking for a farang meal ticket.

So many new hotels all over Laos yet the teachers haven't been paid for 4 months.  I

The busiest hotels seem to be the ones in Luang Prabang.  They're always packed with farangs.  Even the ****ty small ones that overcharge do well.

It is a two edge sword really.. If Laos didn't have any new buildings or anything nice then Lao norks and the world would be making fun of Laos on how bannok and third world they are. Investers build hotels in Laos and now Lao norks say; teachers aren't being paid, no hospitals, this that etc. Pick your poison.

Who is calling who barn nok??  Lao people in Laos call other Laos barn nok more than any Lao Nok would.  Vientiane people call Lao people in the provinces barn nok and urban people call village people barn nok.

Most of the mid size hotels in Laos are owned by Lao PDR officials and their families.  Nouhak's family owns a bunch.  It's mostly the larger ones that are built by non Lao.

No different from all the new night clubs.

You obviously know nothing about the Laos teacher situation.

A lot of Vieng people like to make fun of other Lao's accents.  I see it all the time.  Kind of stupid.

Stupid and a shame.  To nonLao all Lao sound the same.

Most hotels in Laos are overpriced.  You can get better rooms, service, and pricing in Thailand.

The hookers that hang out in front  of all these new hotels are too aggressive.  They'll approach any foreigner they think has money whether he is single or with his girlfriend/wife.  They should stick to there karaokes and discos.  If someone wants them, they can go get them there.

Many girls from Laos reminds me of the ladyboys in Thailand touristy areas.  They'll come up to you even if you have your wife/girlfriend in tow.  At least in Thailand this type of behavior is mostly in Touristy spots like Phuket, Pattaya, etc.  In Laos it happens everywhere.

I'm still waiting for some new hospitals with well trained staff.  Enough with the hotels.

Why can rich Lao officials and their large extended families get top treatment at high end Thailand hospitals and expect other Lao to die without treatment.  The only qualified doctors in Laos are the volunteers from overseas who do things not for money but out of the kindness of their hearts.  Something which seems foreign in Laos nowadays.

I know women from Laos have been working in Thailand as prostitutes since at least the early 90's, maybe earlier.  All those massage parlours in BKK were full of Lao women back then.  As time went by more and more went.  It gave them an avenue to be a Thai man's mia noi or meet a farang.

The Lao officials and their families need a place to invest all the money they're making from logging etc.  Never seen so much logging in Laos before.  Hundreds if not thousands of trucks leaving Laos 24/7, all day all night.

There was actually a scuffle between the Gaew and Jek in Southern Laos a month ago over logs.  Logging in Laos used to be almost exclusively Gaew.  Past couple of years the Jek have taken over in Northern Laos and are logging in Southern Laos now as well.  The Lao crooks have always gotten the scraps but the scraps are still A LOT.

There's a good amount of girls from Laos "working" in Singapore too.

A lot of freelancers.  They hang out at Hotels and Clubs.

I was surprised Lao women made it out there to "work".

Farangs do some freaky ass ****.  **** that doesn't even cross Asian people's minds.

Tossing the salad has become so normal to Lao/Thai girls in the industry because the Farangs are into that ****.  It's nothing for a farang to go do a Ladyboy raw(no condom) and then go do a Lao/Thai girl raw.

When nurses are trained to clean patients, they are taught that the anus area should be handled with care since it's very unclean.

It should be common sense.  But these Lao/Thai girls should be ashamed of themselves.  They toss salads on a daily basis.

Thais used to be scared to come to Laos.  Now Laos is a favorite quick trip for Thai men to get a quick nut.

I wouldn't trust an old(50+ yr old) Lao woman let alone a young one.  Jumping from one **** to the other like it's nothing.

Old traditions have been thrown out the window in Laos.  There is just an appearance of traditional values when most of them have been lost.  There is no shame in things that were deemed shameful in Lao culture in the past.

Shameful to talk like that about Laos. If you claim you love Laos and you badmouth it like that.  Only people who look for things like that encounter them.

It's the truth.  It's not shameful to say it's shameful to witness it.  But you wouldn't know because you don't know nothing about Laos.

I have never disagreed about corruption here. But it exists everywhere.  Everyone who criticizes Lao often forgets how corrupt and sleazy their own home nation is. One of my main arguments has been, since you live in America why not deal with the corruption racism and inequality that goes on within your own population (Lao Americans). I know corruption happens here, but I think that it would happen here regardless of ideology or system. Whether or not it is Vietnam China or America pulling the strings. You can be a good person without being wrapped up in corruption or interacting with it . I see corrupt people but it doesn't bother me if they think im poor or this that. Let them live their corrupt life. One thing I take from Buddhist thought is karma.

There are a lot of nations that are worse off than Laos.

There are lots of good people here in Laos that are willing to help others and be kind. You all only focus on the bad. So thats why I return the favor and focus on the bad of America.

Not all Lao Noks are from the states.

This forum is about Laos.  There's enough forums about everyone else.  If you want to discuss other places go find a forum for that particular place.
