Im not sure if anybody here has some background on psychology. Im trying to understand why some Laonai doesnt want their own blood and people back to their society. Is it because they have been secluded for so many years close from the rest of the world and, though now Laos has opened up to the world but they are still too slow to adopt the idea of globalization or open society? I just want to let you guys know from a non-Lao that the phenomenon of people born from their motherland and sometime in their life moved away and lived in another land for whatever reason will most likely will still have the desire in their heart to move back again to return to their roots... their motherland, is not only limited to Lao nork but to any nationality/ race as well. And this is especially true among Asians since we are known for close family ties and close knit relatives. Its so natural and nobody have the supreme authority (unless written in the law) can prevent them from returning to their homeland as they desire. They can either want to visit or permanently resettle. This is very common when people reach late adulthood when they start to search for self actualization, or even among early adults seeking for belongingness.

YOu guys should welcome them instead of shooing them away as they can give a lot of benefits and advantages for the country as they carry new ideas, funds for investment and even opportunities. Dont worry too much for those who wanted to cause trouble unless you dont trust your police to be capable enough to handle trouble makers.

Its new year man! New hope, new life, new vision, new opportunities, new ideas. Let go of the past and move forward towards a better future!!!

If Lao Nork go back to live in Laos, they still have to maintain their citizenship of their adopted countries so that they can benefit from their pension and retiree benefits. I Lao Nork renounce their citizenship abroad, they will lose all their pension and benefits. Therefore, Lao government have to realize that Lao Nork can't renounce their citizenship of their adopted motherlands because it they do they will lose all their pensions and retiree benefits.

I'm sorry, but no place is better than any other place. No people are better than any other people.

Laos has to be the only country in SE Asia that does not welcome its Lao-abroad. Cambodia has MP's that have lived in America, Thailand has many people that travel back and forth between there and the States, China has a special body to represent Chinese-abroad, but Lao people cannot welcome and love each other no matter where they are?

Our country is small and has a small population as it is. We must all accept that we are all Lao, that we all wish for our country to be developing constantly so that all our brothers and sisters can have a fair chance in life.

Hey dude, I'm Lao Nai too but I personally do not agree with your point since it's kinda offensive. Please don't discriminate us (Lao Nai) to other Lao (Lao ppl who reside in different parts for the world) because we're all Lao and share common interests as well as ways of living. Eventhough the ideas and ways of thinking of other Lao are different from us, we do not need to offend ourselves and judge that it's wrong, we should view their point of views carefully and adjust to it. Importantly, we always have the right to follow, agree, oppose etc to the ideas and ways.

Personally, I think that learning and interacting from others are always benificial. It is better than "always staying in a safe boundary without knowing what it is like outside the box"

Most of Lao nork only want to visit Laos and spending money because Laos is their motherland . Only the elderly people and retirees who want to retire and die in Laos. For some body who were born over sea , only the one who are well educated and successful and wealthy and would like to open the business in Laos. But for the one who are not well educated and loser , they won't want to come back to Laos because Laos has nothing for them not even none skill workers with good pay like where they are now. Some Lao Nai probably not welcome us, but it's not their call. I still have lots of relative back home waiting for me to return, some of them are very high range officer and they are very happy to see me when I've made first trip to Laos. Everybody just said they would never imagine to see me againe.

There are many reasons and factors in my opinion these are the mains:
1.Nobody want to leave the motherland unnecessarily.
2.Most of "Laonork" still have a family members back in Laos, while "Laonork" sounds like strangers they are somebody's mothers,fathers,brothers,sisters,...
(my brother in Laos still calls me brother)
3.Some go back for business.
4.Laos has opened up the country to the world.
