Some much gold and copper are being exported out of Laos, but yet Laos has nothing to show the rest of the world what it has done with all the money it got from those exports. Laos is still asking western country to finance most of the infrastructures being built or planned to build in Laos. If some much gold and copper are being extracted and exported, shouldn't Laos be to able finance some of those projects without outside help? Projects such bridge building, dam building, road constructions, just to name a few. Laos may not have the people who possesses certain skill set to built them, but with all the money Laos get from the exportation of gold and copper, Laos can hire professionals from Europe, Japan, India, and China to build these infrastructures.
But honestly, how much is Laos getting from these mineral extraction contracts? 70%%-30%%? 70%% goes to Laos and 30%% to the company that holds the contract and doing the work? Or is it 60%%-40%%? Maybe...
