It is natural disaster and we can not avoid it. The thing we have to consider is to well prepare and promote the right way for our people to always ready for it.
Lao government should provide earthquae survival guide to local community and disserminate the right things to do during and after the earthquake.
Seems like Laos would not suffer like this even if there was an earthquake on the same scale as Kobe. Reason is that there are only three buildings in the entire country that are anything near as big as the ones that are normally destroyed by earthquakes. And don chan palace is a freakin ugly zit on the face of the Mekong riverbank. I would be happy for it to fall down.
^ is modernization that bad? I can picture lots and lots of skyscrapers on the Mekong, that would be soo beautiful like Hong Kong.
But I think that Laos isn't that affected because the terrain is mountainous in Laos. Remember the last one, they said that they felt only a small shake around the country. I think the shockwaves slow down after passing numerous hills and mountains in the North.
