New resort in Khonephapheng waterfall complete by 2008 (KPL) Local investor invested US$5 million to build a resort and golf club in a well-known tourism site of the country-Khonephapheng waterfall, Khong district of Champassak province and it is expected to be completed by 2008. The Lao government agreed to license local private company to conduct a Khonephapheng Resort and Golf Construction Project in 2005. Mrs. Somleth Phosalath, President of the Khonephapheng Resort and Golf club told KPL reporter at the Lao eco-tourism forum last Friday that the project was an important part to boost the investment in the province as well as socio-economic development “I was very grad after hearing that the government gave me a chance to run this business,” she said. It was 100 percent of investment from private company in the Khonephanpheng Resort and Golf club Construction Project. At present, the Khonephapheng Resort and Golf club Construction Project is under the second phase, the first phase just completed at the end of 2005. The second phase began in the year of 2006 as well as opened to serve. “Our resort was good responded from tourists who visited that made me satisfied with our service,” said Ms Somleth. The Resort and Golf court was covered 64 hectares of land concession and it expects to complete on schedule. The Resort comprises of 40 beautiful wooden bungalows, built along the river bank, with an aim to provide visitors close to nature as much as possible.
