The 24th SEA games has closed following a grand closing ceremony held at the Main Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima. The festival has left deep impressions among the participating delegations concerning their significant achievements and the great efforts of the hosts.
The closing ceremony featured a beautiful and impressive programme and was opened with a special performance entitled "A Message from the Heart" shown by the Thai artists.
Then came other performances namely "the Creation of Spirit," "The Creation of Friendship," The Creation of Celebration," the Creation of Ceremony."
High in the ceremony was the presentation of eleven participating delegations, walking close to each other to demonstrate the spirit of friendship and solidarity among regional countries.
Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont said: "I am glad to preside over the closing ceremony. Sports events not only strengthen relations among nations but also give opportunities for athletes to develop their skills."

Another focus of the closing ceremony was when the chairman of the Thai National Olympic Committee, General Yuthasak Sasiprapa, handed over the Southeast Asian Games flag to Laotian Deputy Prime Minister Somsawat Lengsavad whose nation will host the competition in 2009.
