(KPL) In January, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented 680,754,000 kip of relief on behalf of the Lao government for Vietnamese victims who suffered from Lekima typhoon in last October.
The donation was presented through the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Mr Nguyen Huy Quang. The donation was raised from Lao civil servants, and the general public.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese Ambassador expressed thanks and gratitude to the Lao government and people for their kind assistance to the Vietnamese people, especially those who suffered from Lekima typhoon.
i agree with you .. don't act like you have the money ... look at all lao people they live very poor condition, and lao street still have pot holes and pavement dirt roads to be fix ,save money to fix all the necessary first .
I understand about the above comments, but I also believe LAO's foreign policy as well as solidary are important so Lao's leaders did the right thing to show Lao's solidarity with neigbouring country. Nothing wrong with that. If leaders did not see that it means ' you are low' like playing chess, low movement, ot bad move. ' TEE HAW TEE MOO'.
Sorry to say that the first two comments are very narrow-minded and selfish. So far, Laos has received assistance from many countries including Vietnam. Dont you expect only receiving from others, you should also learn to give and show your spirit of friendship and humanitarian . Lao people are kind and friendly, dont you agree.
Laos pen khon mack yong. Viet they have a lot of money. They just Order12 dreamliner 787 for two billiondollars. Laos can't even buy a used dc10 or 717 boeing. they can even buy table for the student up north. viet goverment laught and call Laos stupid. I woulld take it too if someone give me free money.
I believe standing by your friend, your camarade, your folk, your mate in trouble time is very important. Who knows if one day LAO is in trouble Lao may get double or triple time help from Vietnam hehehe.

Regards,
I have to agree. Hasn't Buddhism taught us to help? Who cares if they aren't "our people", they were victims and they need the help.
Plus the amount was only a little over half a million. Even though Laos is poor, the government could spare such amount.
Lao PDR had done very nice thing, helping friends in trouble is the most precious thing that human being could do, Laos is poor but still could share with its friends in difficulty the small thing it has, lao spirit is great !!!
Vietnam will understand us very well, even if we don't give them any money. The friendship between the two countries will not change. We need to look at our own needs. Our own people should be the first priorities. That amount of money could be used to build a new classroom, replacing the old one (in Akha Village) like in this photo.
I totally agree with you in term of priority and the educational sector of the district responsibility to carry out the job or encourage people to repair their school. the akha or other villagers themselves must do something more for themselves, it is not that very difficult to tress bamboo ( which they have plenty of it ) to make a wall and make a more pleasant place to study for their own children instead of waiting for help ! parce que le gouvernement a d`autre chat a fouetter! !
