The Beat is your weekly guide to global pop music.
We hear from Laos where a burgeoning new pop music scene is developing. Since 2003 the government has allowed Lao pop stars on state radio and television which has led to success both in their home country and in neighbouring Thailand. We hear from rock band Cells, singer Alouna, rap group L.O.G. and one of the founders of the biggest independent labels in Laos Indee Records.
As international interest in Indee Records and their artists develops the BBC world service contacted Indee for a story regarding the label and their artists.
You can listen to the story here which contains interviews with Aluna, Cells, L.O.G. and Indee Records president Anouluck.
