Yes!  We Lao Nok will never forget who we are and where we came from.  We will never forget our ROOT unlike some of the our Tai Issan cousins who resided in Thailand (muang Siam).  They pretty much don't want anything associated with being Lao.  To them it is consider an insulte to call them Lao they rather be called Issan or better yet Thais.

I agree with you 100% of what you are saying.  I just been reading a lots of craps, on how some Laos people in the United State sticking their nose up so high.  They should remember most of them are REFUGEE.  I also see alot of Isaan people, doing the same thing, just remember you came from slaves, from the great kingdom of LAN XANG, but yet  they treat laos people  like crap.

I remembered when i was a refugee in their country, they treat me like i'm lower than dirt.  Forget the notion that they(Isaan) are Laos. They are not our brothers or sisters.  Laos people dont treat each other that way.  They (isaan) are just a second class citizen in Thailand.  Most of the cheap labour, and prostitute are isaan.  Look at yourself (isaan) before you insult Laos people.   Laos maybe poor,  but we have our own country.

Just like alot of isaan young generations today they dont want to be associate with Laos at all.  Thats good, just remember we speak Laos, eat laos food and have a country call "Laos".  They (isaan) should all learn how to speak Thai, as they should.   Why do they stop half way, it should stupid mixing Laos and Thai.  It must be something in their blood, that's why they still kept part of Laos language.  The Thai government for over 100 years tried to eliminate their lanquage and culture by discriminate and making fun of them in the movies and tv in their own country call "Thailand". 

So blood is thicker hate.

Yeah, i listen to some of the Isaan songs.  It sounded weired.  It sound although the Isaan people can not decide how to talk, so they just mixed the Laos and Thai words together.

Laos Isaan has excepted their new culture in Thailand, and they are no longer Laos. So the Laos American should also except your new country "America". Some of you can not even speak real Laos. Broken Laos, just like Isaan

Like the Isaan, you are doing less than nothing to help the country of Laos. For those who has i apologise.

Exactly man. There is no edvidence of this "nose sticking so high" stuff. 75% of my dad's paycheck goes back to his family in Laos.

It maybe the fact that the criticism is coming from the 3rd world communist country many fled. They've seen how we have bettered ourself because of a FREE DEMOCRACTIC government that loves its people while they are stick stuck with... that government.

Or maybe its simpler. I theorize that when the Lao refugees came here, they came in WHOLE FAMILIES, leaving only distant relatives in Laos. Thus, families are less seperated and money is sent less back to Laos, compared to the Vietnamese where families, brothers and sisters, were severly seperated.

My dad for example, he is the only one to flee Laos, and he sends most of his money back there.

My mom on the other hand, her family, and her uncles and cousins (nearly 40 people) all came here and so they have really no contacts in Laos.

 

I also came up with this: Even if all the money was sent back to Laos, the Lao people would not know what to do with it. The government and economy is so slow that if they were to receive billions and billions it would go into nothing. Most people are contempt with what they have in Laos and therefore would not put money into a bigger house or more cars. Would they put that money into roads, schools, and infrastructure? No because that is what the government is suppose to do.

My dad realizes that and does not send money every month but rather every other month.

You have to come and see what is happening in Laos.  The country is changing by the day.  The Japanese, Chinese, and Thai are building rail road and paving road.

Good for you dad to send money to his relatives.  It would give them a head start when the enconomy in Laos boom.  The money you sent from the US, only 10% is deducted by the Banks in Laos, the rest they keep.  Its up to your relatives, how they will spent their money.  When Laos have money to spend, it incourage growth in the Laos enconomy, just as  the United State government will give an average american $600us insentive to boost the american economy.

All said and done, there are still a lot of poor people in Laos.  It will get even worse for the poor and the market enconomy opens up.  The gap between the rich and the poor will widen.  Look at Thailand.  Bangkok is rich with commerce meanwhile in  the remote Isaan village, the people are still poor like Laos.

Why do laos people dont live near each other in America?.  Its seems like other ethic groups like the Chinese, and Vietnamese, and Thai stick close to each other?.  Dont the like each other?.  I live in Laos, and all my relatives and friends are near.  And why a lot of Laos living in American wants to return to Laos to live?.  Many questions

Thank you very much for the song, Mr. Webmaster. It really depends on fate to be apart from Laos.  

To some extent, I feel that some of us, who visit this website, really love a politic or love to criticize other people, Lao government in particular, although the topic has nothing to do with politic at all. 

I wonder why don't we just keep in touch with each other by keeping a good communication rather than criticizing or blaming other people. 

I also wonder why they like to waste their time to do that. Some of our oversea people are good, suggesting some constructive opinion for the sake of Lao development. I really appreciate it. 

However, some of us just want to discredit Lao government image, in hoping that Lao people will act the same way as they act. Unfortunately, Lao people know well what had happened to them or to Laos in general before 1975 under the previous regime. On top of that, in Laos our young generation would never care to read the anti-Lao government comment for sure as they would not waste their money for Internet use for just stupid comment. The fee for Internet use is quite for them. 

I myself feel that all that critism would just go back to the people who always love to criticize other people. I mean, that would make such people getting stress which would definitely short their life. In addition, that would only make them think that they don't want to be Laotian anymore and don't want to even visit Laos as well because in their mind, everything in Laos is bad for them, although their relatives are in Laos.
 
I think, why don't we communicate with each other more friendly based on Lao culture. As everyone knows our life is too short to live with stress. Why don't we  just enjoy our life while having an opportunity.

I listened to the song carefully, he missed his woman he left behind in Vientiane.  He missed her deeply and hoping he will meet her again some day, the song didn't interpret he missed the country of Laos.

Don't worry we will embrace our adopted country, but we will still hold on to our laotian identity.  We might not be in Laos, but we still practice Laos tradition and culture just like chineses, japaneses, vietnameses and other ethnicities holding on to their roots in the US.  I didn't realized that being unable to speak perfect Lao would strip you of your identity and label one as an "outcast".  Is this the kind of stuff that they teach you in Laos?  If so, I wouldn't be so proud of it.  Maybe you're right; maybe we should just cut our ties and stop sending money over there. 

Oh by the way, I do not speak broken Lao but I do admit that I am illiterate in the language.

I think all of these negative and hateful comments from Lao Nai people; he/she is not a Lao person but imposter from another country or ethnic group of people trying to divide us Lao Nork and Lao Nai people to fight each other. So in the end they can invade the country and take over and call it blah, blah, etc. their land and country. 

There are a few countries and ethnic groups in Laos that want Laos country for themselves.

So Lao Nork please don't respond to these flame bait.
