Here is the rough translation of the first post

( "... On the 14th February 2008, at around 21.10, there were 4 chinese labors from Yunan construction company who got drunk from the beer shop outside the  new Lao stadium site that is now under construction. These drunkers wanted to go back to their shelters inside the construction site but did not want to show the ID Card to the Lao police, moreover, they said very rough and bahaved in a bad manner and finally entered the site.

when this Lao police go back home, these 4 drunkers made an attrack to him and the Lao police tried to protect himself and ran as fast as he could to the police office to ask for help. The other Lao police helped each other and caught  3 drunkers. The remained one chinese drunker went back to the site and brought about 200 chinese labors. One of them dragged one Lao police and about 20-30 chinese hit the Lao police to the ground.

Another Lao police started to shoot the gun to the sky and the situation started to getting worse at around 22:00. Around that site like a battle fielf of chinese workers and Lao police.

This is just another small problem of 200-300 chinese workers who come to work in Laos. Imagine in the future, when about 1,000 to 2,000 chinese people will stay in Laos, what will happen !

Ok, I have to stop now caused I don't want it to be serious and disturb the stability of Lao politics.

More news update, I will back to report you later.

It's a pity in my computer the Lao language cannot be read. I see only many rectangles.

Is that froma Newspaper if so please link us to it. Otherwise it is just more rumor to start the fire.

I call this News (the Laos style). It spread by rumor, friends, and relative talking. Pretty soon everyone get heated and upset.

Too many similar events happened in the past.

People please verify your news. I know it can not be 100% like you were there as it happenening but if the reporting from a respectable source then you have to trust it.

But like this....it is just word of mouth.

Maybe  you don't have Lao fonts installed or you don't have a correct type of font installed.

I think Lao Unicode font work best.

I think you should say Chinese construction workers, put  s in the word workers, not just one Chinese construction worker beat a Lao policeman. Wrong grammar.

the mention on this article didn't say Lao construction workers beat Lao police man but it was an imbicile  chinese workers who beat our man.

You treat this news as a crap but i am not.  Maybe your brother in law is chinese right? so that you want to protect them.

I think we all need to treat every news more careful with critical thinking.

Some may want to discredit Lao-Sino relation. The article could be edited with bias. We have to accept that our country still has a lot of enemies, from outside in particular. They can write whatever they want. That's why the critical thinking is the most essential for us, especially when you visit this website.

Why? Who wrote the article? Where does the person live?

There are lots of possibilities.

Actually even if it was true, I would still think why the Chinese workers would have beaten the Lao police. It could be the case the Lao police did not act according to the rule of law. As the article said the 200 Chinese workers came to the scene to fight with Lao police. Here I asked myself why they would come so many? But having said that, I do believe, among 200 Chinese people there would have been reasonable people who can distinguish what is good and what is bad.

It could be the case, Chinese workers were the culprits. Any nation can do crime, not only Chinese, anyhow. It would be no problem. Why? There is a law in Laos to deal with the culprits and that is it.

But what would like comment more is  on the statement "This is just another small problem of 200-300 chinese workers who come to work in Laos. Imagine in the future, when about 1,000 to 2,000 chinese people will stay in Laos, what will happen ! Ok, I have to stop now caused I don't want it to be serious and disturb the stability of Lao politics."

All these statements of that article really make me think that the person who edited this story has ill-intention to Laos and to Lao-Sino relation in particular.
He might be pro-American, pro-France, pro-Japan, pro-Thailand or pro-Vietnam.

Regards,
...

Let's say if this incident is a vice-versa, a Chinese police beat Lao construction workers, so how would you feel about that. You probably feel the same way that I do. In my oppinion I don't consider this article as a "news" since there's no links, date and specific place of this incident. I rather call it rumors trying to spread hatred against a good relationship between Laos-China.

Hey!

May I give my third party view on this?

First I would like to say that I have been staying in Laos for one year and know the country well because I mixed with the people alots.

Laos is the nicest people in the World, they are not violent, you can see the policemen normally don't carry gun with them.

I seldom heard problem about people fighting or whatsoever when during the time I was there. But lately because of the development, there are more and more foreigners there including the freign worker.

One thing I'd like to say is that not all foreigners or foreign workers are trouble maker. But if you talk about Chinese construction workers, Holly God, they are poorer and hardworking people but earn small money, so they like to get drunk and some time really give you problems. But, bear in mind that there is a culture differences between Chinese and Laos, once they are drunk, hehe! bad ****!

Now! You need both hands to clap, so one side is a drunked chinese contruction worker (DCCW) and the other a policemen is trying to ask and hope can make some thing out of these guys. Now! the bad thing happening. The DCCW refusal to the policemen and then they start to arguing, because of two different culture background and you can imagine what will happen.

Same case ever happed in Singapore, two groups of drunked contruction workers, Thai and Korean had a big fight, men! you can see the Thai boxing and Tai-Kuan-Do demontrate their power.

Korean say to Thai "my Tai-Kuan-Do is the best in the world and Thai disagreed: " no way". Thai Boxing is the best even "Chinese Gongfu
" can't fight with Thai. So! let have a fight men!

This is what happen to these people. they are violent people.

Three are many non-voinlent people, but deffinately not DCCW because they are under depress.

Thanks

Jaff
