The Phongsavanh Bank’s new branch will be opened soon in Savannakhet province to signal to its strength and readiness in response to the Lao government’s socio-economic development plan.
Mr Oth Phongsavanh, President of the Phongsavanh Bank, the first private bank in Lao PDR, disclosed that we have already planned to open new branch in Savannakhet province as fast as possible after new building worth more than US$2 million completed.
The building comprises eight floors and expects to be opened this month, now the construction works have been completed 90%.
The branch in Savannakhet province will open four service units in second Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, Laobao crossing border, Sepon district and Savannakhet market.
In addition the bank plans to install at least 20 Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) around the province.
He added that the ATM is to provide more opportunities for local people who live in rural areas accessible to financial service.
At the beginning of this year, headquarter office of the Bank in Vientiane has more than 16,000 deposited accounts, which averaged at US$9 million.

The article is confusing to the readers. I can confirm that the Bank was opened on 24th March 2008, the reason I knew it because I watched the broadcast from Lao National TV.
If you are going to post something in near future, please make sure that is it accurate and precise, do not try to confuse the readers.
The problem is not in the posted person, but in the editor who has less knowledge of English writing.
I am Laotian. Sometime, I hate to read Lao English Newspaper. Some articles are messy. The topic sentences and supported sentences could be found. On top of that, the tense of verbs are used often wrongly.
