Kaysone Phomvihane City? WHAT?!

So I sometimes browse Wikipedia because it has some good information. But it does lack a lot of information on Laos and oddly enough, lots of info on North Korea. (you'd think the most restrictive country would have LESS information)

But I came across this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaysone_Phomvihane_%28District%29

Now I'm guessing the person that changed the page name from "Savannakhet" to "Kaysone Phomivihane" meant to change the district of "Khanthabouli" to "Kaysone Phomivihane".

But if you look at the history editing of the page, the person that changed it, going by the username "Nayok" gave the reasoning from Changing "Savannakhet City" to "Kaysone Phomvihane City" was that...

"Lao haven't Savannakhet city but have Savannakhet Province"

Even the Lao page, and Thai page, has it changed!
Lao Wikipedia page on "Kaysone Phomvihane City"
Thai Wikipedia page on "Kaysone Phomvihane City"

So what is it? Savannakhet City or "Kaysone Phomvihane City"?

Khanthabouly was a former capital city of Savannakhet province. Now it is Kaisone Phovihane (Khantabouly has been changed its name to Kaisone Phomvihan). So Kaisone Phomvihane is a new capital city of Savannakhet province.

It's simple as that.

I think you missed half of it, originally I think Kaisone was immigrated from Moukdahanh, Thailand. Then he started joint the revolution and won the fight then became the president of laos. He is half blood of laos/Viet.

Thats so... un-nationalistic in a Lao sense. I prefer the Cult of Phetsarath over Kaysone anways.

But I still remain confused and disorientated. Is there or is there not a Savannakhet City? Is what I always thought was "Savannakhet City" known as "Kaysone Phomvihane City" Officially?

I really thought there was a city name Savannakhet in the province of Savannakhet.

I think Kaisone Phomviharn didn't come from Mukdaharn, rather it is Nouhak Phoumsavanh who was born in Mukdaharn, Thailand and grew up in Laos.
