How much is too much for the dams construction in Laos?

Lao PDR looks to more Vietnam hydro co-op, Namet cascade

Lao PDR is looking to further co-operation in hydropower development with Vietnam with a number of plants being proposed in addition to its own proposals for domestic projects.


The Vietnamese Government has approved for Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) to work with counterparts in Lao PDR to develop the river Namet cascade.


Initial plants for the cascade are proposed to be Namet 1, Namet 2, Namet 3 and Namet 4.


In addition, the Government Lao PDR has authorised the construction of 29 hydropower plants that are to be open for both domestic and foreign investor participation.

why vietnamese????  why not other countries???  i hope Laos make some research on those companies from Vietnam...  if i remember it correctly, sometime last year..  major bridge contruction in vietnam failed and many construction workers were killed....
