We are always proud of our country that we have a lot of forests, lot of rivers, lot of natural resources, lot of ecological diversity, bah bah bah... But, do we all know that these things are not permanent and may be dissappeared from Laos in the near future. Our next generation would only can see or read from the textbook that once upon a time, Laos was a very abandant country, but there is none for them now.
I know we all don't want this to happen, so... what shall we do to preserve our natural heritage for our new generation?
In many countries in ASEAN, such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, etc... they all have botanical gardens in the heart of the cities where local citizen and young students can spend their time learning about the nature.
If the government could just stop rich generals from selling every last tree across the border to Vietnam there would be less of a pressing need. Then again it's good for a place in the heart of the city where students and others wiht an interest can look at indiginous species for study.
As for them having more pressing things to spend money on, like what? Big fancy stadium for SEA games?
so it's ok, i can do it ;) I just have to find someone in Laos to start the project :P But i'm affraid it's too small... 1 or 2 Ha would have been better, i think! But this is much more expensive if i want the park to be "not too far" from Vientiane
right, the price of land in VT area is rocketing, 300-500 USD per square meter in central VT city, 5-15 USD in suburban area...but you first should make a marketing study before starting the project `cos this kind of project needs long period of investment and takes times to gain profit but at least you would have a jardin d`eden of you own when you achieve the project and spend the rest of you life there with great happiness... regards.
For the land, it's ok (6000m2, in a place that should be a good location in the future... little bit far from VT, but very strategic place anyway). But now, i have to turn it into a wonderfull garden... i guess this nead more time than money....but everything have a cost anyway, and i'm not there (in Laos) to manage everything). And 6000m2 seam too small, i'm affraid.
not too small for the begining but later when your project goes well and you want to expand it you wouldn`t be able to find more land or it might be very expensive, so it is preferably to have wider land. i neither cannot manage my land by myself because i still working and have not enough time for it and in the other hand it is a bit too far (60 km) from VT, as the price of gas is rocketing every week... i have two ha but a half is inundated in the wet season. but where is your land ?
I doubt it because not many Lao people love to have beautiful gardens or know how to create botanical gardens or natural parks. They don't love beautiful gardens and don't appreciate stunning georgous landscapes.
right, we, senior people have to teach our children to love nature and keep the environment tidy, it is not that expensive , we only have to pay more attention on it. and for PV land which is close to the train station, wow ! it is a great place to start a natural park , yes PV , you can start the project, let your relatives or you father in law to look after it while you `re working in france and please invite me to visit your " jardin d`eden " or suan vimane. regards.
Let's imagine i'll really do it... Do you think i should involve autorities in the project, to be sure of their support in case of problem, or do you think on the contrary i should try to be as discreet as possible before everything is finished?
of course, you have to and to avoid problems later you should register your project in accordance to the law but now you can start it without doing it , it is a family project after all, it is not yet a business or a company, you just inform the head of the village that you will do something in your land, it`s all. after visiting your project, i`ll invite you to my small forest, i only have small trees all the big onces have been cut down before i bought it. so, have a great success.
