im pretty sure there has been a time in your life when someone asks you where your from. well it always happens to me, where are you from? and i say " im Laos" and then they reply where or what is that and thenn i load it on them every time. i know a lot of people dont know what lao or where it is, its not that there trying to be a smart ass but most of them dont know. well i just want to say i love informing people who never knew of lao before and when the convo is over i informed one more person of my great country and people.
typical questions i get:

i love telling people im laos, in a way i feel like im keeping my heritage alive and spreading Laonesss at the same time.... = )
I have met two types of people, the one who doesn't know anything even the name of Laos, and the other one who knows Laos much better than me. It is quite surprise now that many foreigners got to know more about Laos.
Foreigner: Where are you from? Me: I am from Laos Foreigner: Laos ? (with some questions in their eyes) Me: Yes, I am from Laos. Do you know where is Laos? Foreigners: Ofcourse... I have been to your country many times. I must say Laos is the best country in the world. Me: Really ! why do you think so? Foreigner: The things that make Laos unique is not the places, but its people ! Me: I see, thank you for your kind words
