Aluna Thavonsouk, a talented artist of the Lao PDR did it again, a top hit of the year with her new release second album-“Aluna Part II.” Aluna talked to VOA about her new released second album that was on the top chart of Lao radio stations through out the country and perhaps this is a reason why Aluna was interviewed live by Matt Lauer of “Today Show” of NBC on April 30, 08, as a pop singer star that changed the Lao’s entertainment industry, where Laos was once banned.


Aluna says that…”I was very excited and didn’t know an interview with Matt Lauer of Today Show was live from Laos. I was overwhelmed and very honored and happy to be selected. At the time, my song “Khuam Houseuk Bork” at top chart for the nation radio stations.”


Aluna, a young talented artist, singer, song writer was born in Laos and went for her Undergraduate in Australia and came back to Laos and pursued her new career in music, even though she has a degree in Business Management and Computer Graphic.

Aluna said, it took three years to complete her second album, since her first alum. She told VOA that, her music, her lyrics are mixed between Lao language and English. “It’s Aluna’s style, I’ve done this before in a first album, as you can see. I want to make music for audience around the world to understand my songs, especially that younger Laotians in overseas.
 

The younger Laotian in overseas do not speak Lao that well, at least they would understand what I am trying to project in a song, once I have them in English. This’s also a challenge and courage to push them to learn more about Laos and Lao language. And at the same time, Laotian kids in Laos, would like to know what I said in a song…they would learn English at the same time.”

Currently, Aluna is picking up her new vocal style by practicing the traditional Lao style of “Lum Lao” she adds…“Lum Lao or traditional folklore is like an opera, it’s very difficult and I am working on it in order to move to another level. And definitely, I’ll have it incorporate into my special project, while will be out later this year. She believes that her music will reflect her beautiful culture, her root and her heritage.

Aluna wrote all ten songs in this new album. “I talked about love, hate relation of men, women, social issues and life in general, do write or email me with feed backs. I am open to all so that I can improve. I thanks to all the fans, for all support and look forward to hear from all” She concluded.

lovely song... kwam hu seuk bork!!! very nice video.. great job Aluna...

i can't find this album cd anywhere in U.S. yet!!! perhaps, i have to wait til the end of year... i'll just pick one or two up when i'm in Laos.

Every countries nowaday tend to mix their musics with the english words or sentences. It makes their song sound modern. However, too many English words or sentences in the song, make Lao song lose its identity.

For now
Aluna mix Lao with English
Buratino mix Lao with Japanese
Alexandra mix Lao with Thai

Are there anyone want to mix Lao with French, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Khmere, Russia ...etc ?
