VIENTIANE, June 12 Asia Pulse - Investors from Vietnam's central highlands province of Gia Lai are eyeing rubber tree plantations in Laos' Champassak province as a promising area for investment.
At a recent working session with Champassak authorities, Gia Lai provincial Peoples Committee Vice Chairman Le Viet Hung said business people want to develop 10,000ha of rubber trees in the Lao province.
According to Champassak authorities, other Vietnamese investors have already planted rubber trees on 10,000ha in Bachieng and Sana Somboun districts, helping create jobs for local people.
In addition to rubber plantations, Gia Lais businesses want to pump money into small-scale hydro-electricity plants, mining and tourism in Champassak.
No more. Laos doesn't have enough land for rubber plantation. Laos needs to plant more rice and vegetables for domestic consumption. Tell the Vietnamese to grow the rubble plantations in their own country.
No more for kon geo!!!!!!!!! They are just taking all of our resources, using up our valuble land and stealing our trees! No more rubber trees, go grow it in your own damn country. We dont need them to mess up our environment!
