My grandmother gave me an amulet of Prince Phetsarath. I thought it was a good keepsake, so I do wear it everyday.
Recently in Minnesota we had a boun. Boun Phra Ved was held here in June (since a good 50% of the time, Minnesota is covered in snow).
I came across more amulets of Phetsarath. I was intrigued to see an amulet of King Saysedtha (of his statue) (btw, can anyone spell his name in Lao for me?), and also one of Rama V of Siam. I wanted to purchase them as a collection, but the lady wanted $20USD for each. RIP OFF!! I rather pick them up the next time I go to Laos.
I understand that they have Saksit powers. I did a little research and I found out that some worshippers in Bangkok go to Rama V's statue and pray on Tuesdays, the day of his birth.
So the question is, might anyone know of any other people that are faced on an amulet? Anyone know of any Cambodians that have their own amulets? I'm interested in starting a collection (of course, I'll still always wear the one my gradnmother gave me, and have confidence in some sort of spiritual protection from the Prince).
I have friend that believe in them. They also have the kata with some either sanskrit/pali/or Khmer writing on them. I have no clue. I am a Buddhist as they are. But they think I am weird because I don't believe in these things.
I don't believe they have any special power. The only power it have if it does, it is your mind that put it there. Instead of believing in an amulet why not train your own mind and believe in that instead.
