Laotian Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh arrived in North Korea Saturday for an 11-day visit, a North Korean news report said.
The visitor was greeted by North Korean Premier Kim Yong-il upon his arrival at an airport in Pyongyang, the North's Korean Central News Agency said in a brief report that gave no others details, including the purpose of the trip.
The North Korean prime minister visited Laos in November and signed a memorandum of understanding to expand ties in the cultural field.
The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1974.
The Laotian prime minister visited South Korea in June at the invitation of South Korean Prime Minister Han Seung-soo.
(KPL) Prime Minister, Bouasone Bouphavanh and his delegation left Vientiane for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, to enhance bilateral and existing relations between the two countries on 28 August.
The official visit is at the invitation of the Prime Minister of DPRK Kim Yong Il, from 30 August to 2 September.
