I heard Thakhek is pretty nice town. On my last trip to Laos 2 years ago, the bus I was on stop at Thakhek bus station for 30 mins. I didn't get a chance to tour the town at all. Hopefully, the next trip back to Laos I will get a chance to do so.
Does anyonw knows if Thakhek is the place of beautiful women and men? I heard that Thakhek is the birth-place of many Lao artists such as Voradeth Ditthavong and his brothers.
I was able to pass by Thakhek when my Vientiane to Savannakhet bus stooped by for about 20 minutes there. Unfortunately for me, it was 3 AM! I couldn't see anything worth seeing.

HI; anybody here knows any famous Thakhek residents such as national heroes, fighters or any role models? I remember that Thakhek is a famous town during the war of independence.
I was in Thakhek in 2006 and I loved it. It was beautiful. This city could be the next Luang Prabang of central Laos because it sits right on the bank of the Mekong river it has many old colonial buildings. It is close to beautiful mountains that are fantastic to look at. The potential for eco and aventure tourisms is just amazing.

i was only 4 in 1984, i don't remember teacher khampone and Buapha
I heard there is a saying among Lao people about Khon Thakhek (Thakhek people) or Khammouan province.
They said one could not explain by words, you need to get in touch with them or touch them. Then you you will understand the meaning of Khammouan, which is a name that province. You may understand what I mean if you are Laotian.

hI, bRUCE i KNOW MY DRAW IS TOO BAD, HOPE U FIGURE OUT WHERE IS MY HOUSE!?
I think I have an idea of where you are. I will call my half brothers and half sisters and my stepmother on the weekend. I have not informed them of my wellbeing for a long time. I feel bad now. One of my half sisters has been working for foreign embassy in Vientiane as a translator. I had paid for her education until she graduated. I will ask her for more information when I call her this Saturday. By the way, I plan to visit Laos again, but I am waiting for my baby to be a little older. I will invite you and introduce you to my family in Thakhek. My stepmother owns two retail shops, but in the 90s, she told me that not too many buyers, so she barely made it to pay for her electricity bills.
