Sweco Awarded Another Significant Hydropower Assignment in Laos Monday September 22, 9:40 am ET

Hydropower experts within Sweco (STO:SWECA)(STO:SWECB) have been contracted as the Owners Engineer during the implementation of the Theun Hinboun Expansion project, in central Lao PDR. The assignment is estimated to be worth more than 5 million Euros.

In June 2006 Sweco was assigned to perform the Feasibility Study and Tender Document for the expansion project. The new assignment as the Owners Engineer includes Design Review, Contract Management, and Construction Supervision during the implementation phase. The Assignment is being performed for the Client, Theun Hinboun Power Corporation (THPC).
The fiscal Project primarily includes a 70 metre high Roller Compacted Concrete Dam (RCC), a 6 kilometre long and TBM driven Headrace Tunnel, two separate Power Stations (220 MW and 60 MW) and two separate Transmission Lines, one connecting to the Thai grid and one connecting to the local Lao grid.
Expertise to be provided from Sweco’s engineers includes all traditional hydropower engineering disciplines such as civil & structural engineering, hydrology, geology, geo-technology, dam engineering, mechanical engineering, turbine engineering, electrical engineering including transmission, and distribution.
