He has retired about two years ago and he still lives in Fairfax county, Virginia. I have not seen him for about a year now.

There was a event/concert (I think it was in California)t held about 3-4 years ago honoring all the Laotians song composers.

Laos PDR lost many of the great musicians when they decided not to live under communists and escape to USA, France, and Australia.

Wow, the Lao Overseas must have a booming music industry, then. Since, majority of Laos musicians are now living in the West. With all the best concentration of Lao musicians  in the West and combine with Western technology, know-how, unlimited resources and supportive audiences. I would think that the third world music from Laos and Thailand would be obsolete. But to the contrary, the music from third world Laos and Thailand are dominating the Lao Overseas music scene.

Absolutely, the majority of Laos musicians currently still live in the West.  But the population of supporters settled in oversea are minorities compare to the third world residents. Of course, the Western country has the best sources to meet are demands. Unfortunately we are not lucky, no one such as Jap. Chin. Thai. Camb. US., and Aust. is willing to fund  or donate to Laos refugees like us. To start a new life is very difficult.  We are not rich. Eventhough, as much as we are so poor. When our blood came over here to look for jobs.  We did everything to help our brothers. Even their musics sound very unprofessional. We still buy them. You were speaking to Thia dominated the Western music. What is wrong to support them when they're good? When you wanted  Laos people to stop sign the contract with Thia company. Why don't you do something to change it since your pockets are big and make the best out of it.  I bet every Laos including myself are proud to be Laotian and love to see Laos becomes the prosperous country. Man, I love you.
