In the preliminary round of Asean cup yesterday, Lao men soccer team lost to combodia 2-3... unbelievable, this team has been trainned in Vietnam with Hoang an gia lia... www.aseanfootball.org
it is not surprised at all, Cambodia team has trained in SOUTH KOREA, their team is stronger, i think the president of Lao football federation just quit the job.
If so why we sent our team to traine in VN? why not in South Korea, Japan or China?. I heard that lao national team had trained with provincial level in Vietnam.

we have limited budjet, directly saying (no money)
PHNOM PENH (17 Oct 2008) – Hosts Cambodia had to endure some anxious moments in the closing stages of their game before they were able to carve out a close 3-2 win over Laos at the National Olympic Stadium.
The score at the end of the first half was 2-1 in favour of the hosts who were cheered by more than 15,000 screaming fans.
“Laos are a very strong team and I believe that they are perhaps the best team in this tournament,” said Prak Sovannara, the head coach for Cambodia.
“They made it hard for us but we are satisfied with the results although after we tried very hard to prevent them from scoring the second goal.”
There was no disillusion that that the second match of the day will be nothing short of fast and furious and with the supporters braving the afternoon heat, there was nothing else that the Cambodian team could give other than their utmost.
But Laos were no east meat either where having spent the last several months in one of the top clubs in Vietnam, their fitness and strength were obvious although they should have showed more patience to their game.
Laos broke through the flanks several times in the opening half but Vongphet Sylisay’s effort were not well-supported.
Cambodia in turn created their first real chance in the 19th minute but Sam El Nasa’s shot went straight to Laos keeper Sengpachan Bounthisanh.
Five minutes later, Cambodia were 1-0 up.
Off a corner, Sengpachan’s failure to keep out a corner saw Khim Borey slamming home.
But the lead did not last that long where in the 30th minute, a superb freekick from Phayvanh Lounglath saw the ball flying into the far post for both teams to be back on level terms.
Three minutes later, Laos almost took the lead for the first time tonight when Visay Phaphouvanin dribbled through but his pass was wasted by Lamnao Singto.
And just when things seem destined to for a stalemate at the half, came a cross from Khim for Nasa to head home.
Both teams came out a little more reserved in the second half.
And while they try to curb their enthusiasm, there was no stopping Sun Sovannarith from scoring Cambodia’s third goal when he broke through the left to score from an acute angle as the fans stood up in unison cheer.
As the game wore on and as the tired legs began to show, Laos’ made up for an earlier miss to score their second goal of the game in the 78th minute from a header off Chandalaphone Liemvisay.
Some frantic substitution to the line-up and the ensuing frontline for both teams failed to change the score sheet as it stayed to the end.

Lao squards look shorter than Cambodian, but 2nd goal from header, not so bad. i still believe that Lao players quite strong at skill and speed, but they have to train more esspecially in the fitness of players, Lao players come to a weak legs in the second hallf. I saw previous games always like that. how long do they garther to train before the event?

well, many thing needed more .1. work hard. 2.Discipline.3. should be physically taller.4. Patience...5. Money
Well in this case money is not the only problem. Government could sent lao national team to train in China. The cost of living would not make any much different, but it looks like Vietnam is always influences on any decisions.
I think the Lao men soccer team face with the problem of eating food, many of Lao person went to train in Vietnam for one or two months after ending their training course and return home, most of them lost their weight.
PHNOM PENH (21 Oct 2008) – Laos kept their hopes for a place in the final round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 this year alive when they beat Philippines 2-1 here at the National Olympic Stadium.
In a game which the Laotian needed to win following the defeat they suffered in their first game against Cambodia, the young side led by Veleriy Dvovin from Russia pulled no punches from the very first whistle.
“We showed that we can play good football even though we were up against tall players,” added Dvovin.
“The win has helped us but now we must look to win all of our remaining matches.”
And playing under hot conditions does not seem to bother them one bit as Philippines on the other hand struggled with the heat to get a grip on the game they would like to win to confirm their place in the next round.
Laos had their first real look in the 11th minute but Philippines keeper Neil Etheridge stopped the double attempt from Lamnao Singto and Visay Phapvounin.
With Alexender Borromeo being beaten several times on the left flank by Lamnao, head coach of the Philippines Juan Cutillas made a double change by introducing Gerald Orcullo and Joebel Bermejo with the hope that it will give more defensive strength.
But the change does not seem to have the desired effect as Laos continued to put pressure on the Philippines backline.
However, in spite of all the sustained effort that Laos put in, it was to be the Philippines who carved out the first goal in the 32nd minute when off a free kick from Christopher Greatwich from the right, Ian Araneta headed the ball into the far post.
In the 36th minute, the Philippines had a great chance of wrapping up the three points but Jason De Jong’s effort came off the crossbar instead.
Laos came out more determined after the break and in the 56th minute, they finally found the equaliser when Philippines defender Floriano Pasilan was faulted for bringing down Lamnao inside the box.
And Phayvanh Louanglath did not miss from the spot.
While Sounthalay Xaysongkham’s try in the 59th minute was stopped by the crossbar, there was no denying Laos the lead for the first time in the game when Visay made good on a cross from the right off Kaysone Soukhavong.
Laos then went on to create several clear chances in the closing stages of the game but they just could not find the right touch to make any of them count.
“Laos played much better. And they deserve to win,” quipped Juan Cutillas, head coach of the Philippines.
“Playing in the afternoon was difficult. I believe that Laos had the better advantage on the day.”

The Loatians, proved that they are the best team in the five-team qualifiers when they scored a goal in each half for the win. Timor scored their only goal in the game from captain Alfredo Esteves in the 64th minute.
With the win, Laos will be based in Bangkok in the eight-nation competition while Cambodia will be head to Jakarta in December.
With both teams needing to win the tie on the day to make into the next round, it was Brunei who drew first blood through Hardi Anak Bujang in the 44th minute before Cambodia replied with the equaliser through Sam El Nasa a minute later.
But Borey delivered the winning strike in the 73rd minute in front of more than 15,000 fans.
Philippines failed to win a place due to scoring less goals than Cambodia after both teams were tied on points and goal difference.
At the final tournament, Laos will compete against Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam while Cambodians will meet Myanmar, Singapore and Indonesia.
I can see, cambodia will not meet thailand in the next round. Based on current situation between the two countries, it is very good for cambodian soccer to play in another group.
