OZ LXML Sepon Helps Renovate Vientiane High School
(KPL) OZ LXML Sepon has helped Vientiane High School to renovate some areas of the school as a part of the company’s contribution to the development of the educational capacity building.
According to the press release from Australian Embassy, on 13 November 2008, an official hand-over ceremony was held at Vientiane High School which was attended by OZ LXML Sepon Management, led by Mr. Peter Albert, OZ LXML Sepon Managing Director, Mr. Saman Aneka, OZ LXML Sepon , Mr. Bounthoum Khenaphoum, Director of the Vientiane High School, Ms. Ketmany Bandasak, Deputy Head of Education Division of Vientiane Capital, Mr. Bouaphet Phoxay, Deputy Head Officer of Vientiane Capital, together with other teachers and students from the school.
The support provided by OZ LXML assisted in the renovation of garden works, a new front gate and signage, refurbishing the front wall, as well as provision of a water tank, and two gates. In total, OZ LXML Sepon’s funds for the renovation were more than US$ 23,000.
The renovation works took approximately four months to complete, from late April and finished in early August 2008.
By providing this assistance to the renovation of Vientiane High School, it will help to create a positive environment for both students and teachers. It is hoped that the improvements will provide a long lasting legacy for this and future generations of students at the school.
Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Mr. Peter Albert said that the Company’s main activities are in the Vilabouly District, and that the company was pleased to have had this opportunity to help support the education sector in Vientiane. “We can not provide anything better to young people than giving them opportunities to receive a good education and we are very proud to have had the opportunity to help them.”
At the local community of Vilabouly District apart from the developments of the other five main sectors – infrastructure, health, agriculture, business development and tourism –, the company also assists in the education sector by constructing schools and providing educational assistance to the local District. In previous years, the Company has also provided three international scholarships a year in conjunction with the Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) Programmes.
At the ceremony Mr Bounthoum Khenaphoum, Director of the School, said, “Vientiane High School students are now working towards achieving the five goals as outlined by the Vientiane Capital Administration, ie peacefulness, cleanliness, green environment, lights, attractiveness and prosperity. These themes will help the school to become a liveable place for studying and teaching, and OZ LXML Sepon has helped by adding a green theme to Vientiane High School.
