I don't think it benefits local Lao people if no Lao work there. It will just be an extension of the Chinese land instead a part of Lao territory. It is not a good project.

What can Lao citizens do, nothing...those Chinese businessmen are shuffing money down the head of Lao government's throats to get what they want. This is what I'm predicting, Luang Namtha is about to transfered to the Chinese in the near futures.

Near this casino, all signboard are in Chinese only.
Imagine you are in Laos, but nobody speak lao. I can not eat here because I did'nt have chinese yuan with me.

I think, last year this casino was open. This casino was constructed under Chinese capital. I did not go inside the casino, but local people said most customers are Chinese. In surrounding areas there are many shops run by Chinese people. When I visited this place 4 years ago, there were many Laotians. But Laotians seem to withdraw from this area.

Some signboard have Lao letters, but very small compare to Chinese letters.

Laos is now truely swollowed by Chinese investors

Wow!!!! All those picutures shown are in Laos?? All those shops are in Laos soil?? That's very disturbing things to see and if it is true. I hope our government will wake up and see what's going on. Eventually, all those area will be full of chinese and will claim Laos to be China.

We can not criticize the government because that would be consider as an attack on the government and that is against SAMAKOMLAO rule #2.

You all knows how I feel about it but I am not going to say because I don't want to get YELLOW card for violating rule #2.

I will not criticize the government if they are doing the right things for Laos and her people. Laos is for the benefit of Laotians, that should always be rule #1.

What a pity and what a shame to see our land and our country soon will belong to chinese people. In the near future I don't think Laos exist in the map.

The thai tourists who went through Uodomxay said that there are many Chines shops in that city there as well. So, they are Chinese presence in many cities and towns of Laos long time ago.

No, I meant the other anonymous. She was all excited when I came here for a short visit believing that I was returning and she said "Welcome back BLM" Though she went by anonymous but she said she was a 38 year-old lady and very conservative so I called her a conservative lady.LOL

I don’t know why some of us made a big fuss about it. In U.S we have China towns and we even SaigonTown in San Diego. In San Jose, Vietnamese people petitioned the court to name curtain area to Saigon District or Little Saigon something like that. Laotian too, if we have enough signatures/businesses, we can name Vientiane District or Little Vientiane.

I heard the news about Chinese and Korean secured the right to lease a province in Laos for 50 years in exchange for their investment/development. I have no doubt they had paid big bucks to the government and I do hope the money would be utilized in public services. I don’t know if the government in Laos disclosed the amount of money they received from these concessions but they let the public become aware of it. People have the right to know especially those who are affected in some way from having to relocate.

I strongly urge our members here to tone down the criticism and allow the government uses its discretion. I am sure they what’s good for the country. It is also ok with me if some of you would like to express your concerns and I don’t think you need to ask the mod for permission. This is a public forum and anybody has the right to state their rational opinions unless Samakolao is for domestic Laotian only.

Fifty years from now, there will be many Chinese, Koreans and others and I already stated my strategy to deal with them a while back such as acculturation and assimilation if they want to live in Laos forever. So Laos can be a cohesive society with social coherence in that case, everyone can enjoy peace and harmony as well as greater for prosperity for this Kingdom of one Million Elephants.

Oh one more thing, how do Lao people back home react to Chinese immigrants?

We can not criticise the Communist Lao Government in here b/c it is against the Website's Rules.

Most of us live in the Democratic Nations.

We have the FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Why can't we exercise THIS RIGHT?

I suspect this Website is Set Up to be the Voice of the Communist Lao Government rather than that of FREE LAO.

Shut up Lao people , you lost the war to the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese army .

So you must be by the winning party without any election by your people . Kaisone and party and North Vietnamese army won the war so they could do any thing they want in Laos .Vietnamese army could chop down and smuggle all Lao wood as they want that is their settlement and they could get Lao gold mine and robber plantation also as they please. What's wrong with Laos government?

Is Luang Namtha belong to Laos or China?

Look all those business signs are Chinese languages.

If Luang Namtha is still belong to Laos, could Laos government or local

Lao authority take down those business signs and make them write Lao

on top of Chinese. We are the owner of this town, they have to respect

our law or policy of our language. If Laos government or local Lao authority

couldn't make them to change that mean the whole town of Luang Namtha

have been sold to China already.
