Laos: Japan supports mother and child health improvement project
A ceremony to sign the MoU to evaluate the mother and child health improvement project was held in Vientiane on 18 February between Ms. Inlavanh Keobounphan, Director of Vientiane Capital Public Health Department and Ms. Aiko Osaki, Head of Evaluation Team from Japan.
The Mother and Child Health improvement project is a priority project of the Lao Government to reduce the mortality rate, particularly those who age below 5 and 1 year old.
The project has implemented since September 2006 to August 2009 in the remote areas of five districts: Pakngum, Nasaithong, Sikhottabong, Saysettha and Saythany.
The project has closely worked with village volunteer and officials in dispensaries to prepare activities and they then was submitted to JICA for funding.
