How all Lao people can be part of hosting SEAGAMES 2009?

The 25th Southeast Asian Games is scheduled to be held in Vientiane, Laos, in 2009. This will be the first time the country has ever held a Southeast Asian Games.

What Lao people can help and how?

think foreign visitors would like to see...

1. easily available immigration forms at Friendship bridge. now have to squeeze to front of the queue & get immigration officer to stop his work & pass you a form. those guys who make money by helping people to fill up the forms don't want the forms to be readily available, cos they want to sell the forms for money even though they are free of charge? this is one place where foreigners get their first impression of Laos...& Lao-style 'efficiency'...

2. a clean & unpolluted Vientiane. many tourists are put off by how people spit & litter everywhere (even on the floor inside buses, restaurants & hospitals)

3. some regulation on tuktuks. seen drivers charging tourists 50,000kip for Pha That Luang to Nam Phou, 60,000kip from Wattay airport to T2 bus station...& overcharging Lao people from the countryside who just arrived in Vientiane

4. less aggressive beggars

5. less harassment from streetwalkers along Th Setthathilath (near Wat Mixay) at night

think some of these would also benefit Lao people themselves?
