Gosh, how can you say this's a good song? If he is that good, he doesn't have to go sing English song in Vietnam. He can just enter American Idol contest, and see how good he really is. It's asian melody with english lyric.
Original Thai song is "Low Soo Gun Fung" sung by Bird, Thongchai McIntyre. Thai lyric is quite beautiful. "Rain falls over where you are, makes me feel cold over here"

hahaha!
Who wrote this song first?
Lyric of the original Thai song "Lhao Soo Gun Fung" is composed by Kamolsak Soontanont and melody by Jaturont Aembutr. It was released in album "Bird Thongchai: Smile Club" on 31 October 2001 and voted award winning song in the same year. Where was Minh Tri in year 2001??
"...Minh Tri has no soul in “When I Left You That Day,” which he uses Thailand’s melody. His lyrics go something like this, “You are all that I need/and I’m missing you/but we won’t meet again.” How much cheesier can you get than that?"
Copycat or plagialism is not always bad. Thai as well as Japanese and Korean used to be copycat before. Now Thailand enfored copyright law, no more Thai music can copy from other countries. The most the Thais can do is inspiration from music of other countries but not copy the whole bunch of melody or lyric.
