Some Laotian Americans visit Laos and not used to squat toilet
Permalink

LOL that is too funny no toilet paper, I was clueless too when I first was at Laos. I had to use the toilet at the zoo, I never use a sqat toilet before so I was nervous trying to not let my pants touch the floor and trying to balance myself, than I notice there was no toilet paper after I was done with the number 2.... I was like yelling out loud "Mommm there is not toilet paper can you go find me one.. " all I saw was a bowl and water..LMAO.. how about when you are to a resturant and you have to use their bathroom and there is no toilet paper so what I do is take the tiny ass napkins from the table sneak it and hope the owner dont notice it... LOL but all in all Laos is fun... good experience, love visiting but would not want to live there :) I will be there in November of this year, see you guys there.

I went to Laos last summer. Frivolous stuff aside, I pretty much loved everything about it. The weather was warm, but I went in June, so I expected that. I think I only used a squat toilet 2 or 3 times the whole 3 weeks I was there. The internet is decent in alot of places. But even dial up is okay to check your email or chat. But why are you complaining? Internet is usually less than $1.50 an hour! Airport was bad too, they tried to rip me off on customs, but I know where they are coming from and what position they are in, and I realize that customer service in Asia is completely different than in the west.

My only regret was I didn't get to flirt with any chicks or get to know them and exchange emails...don't get me wrong, I wasn't looking for a Meea! There were so many hot girls, even in the rural parts...i like them dark, slender, and natural! Not the light-skinned round-faced girls that Lao media likes to promote. I wonder if the law about foreigners sleeping with the natives apply to me, since I'm Lao...I sure hope not.

I've heard that Muslim people don't use toilet paper either.

In VTE I think mostly people will use toilet paper in their houses, but some families prefer to wash rather than to use the toilet paper, arguing that way is cleaner.

In countryside, all people, who were born in Laos, know how the rural people deal with this business.

I only copied their comments to share. I would personally have a hard time too if I have to sit in a squat position because I have been used to sitting down.LOL smilew.gif

Oh by the way, I don't look at my number 3 either because I flushed it down after I finished while still sitting.

Hahahahahah Only BLM would come up with this kind of topic.  This type of toilet design for people with fast pace of life style.  Just take care of business and out of there.  Unlike your typical conventional toilet, you can be sitting there for hour reading magazines/newspapers til your legs goes numb.  LOL

Where's the soap????
And after you wash your...what would you dry it with???
I'm planning to go visit Laos in Dec for 2 or 3 weeks, I hope where I stay has the conventional toilet so i don't have to squat down, wash myself without soap, and leave it wet.

You like the farmers girls from the south and not the Hmong looking aristocrat from the north.

In ban nok you need to bring a stick with you when heading to the bushes to keep the pigs away.

The dogs follow little kids around just to be the first to get what comes out. Eat it like candy, yum, yum. Every time I see someone in America mouth kissing thier dog I get disgusted.
