Lao theung in Phinh district, Savanakhet

Why they are called Lao Theung when they also live on the plain areas, not on the slopes of the mountains?

i thnk we need to stop discriminating our fellow lao,,,

we all live in da same country they are laos it doesnt matter where or how high they live they are also my ppl. hopefully some day soon we can make all of laos wealthy and keep its natural beuty at the same time.

Right, Destined, many years has passed that in our CV, we have to indacate our ethnic we belong to : laolum, lao theung, laosung...I think this is one kind of discrimination among lao people, the department that issues the CV form must erase the word " xonhphao " out of the form. As lao people , we have the same right , same value, same responsibility toward the law and government.

I did have some friends back then and I still remember some of their language. They like to be called Khamou( Khamu) but I have no idea now. Good Luck my friends Khamou not matter who you are, you are still my friend for ever. many time I do miss you

Lookin at these pics remind me of my area where I was growin up" BON HUA SAVANNAKHET"........................... SO wat u know about? the struggle that my people went through so you can live the way u live now?...SO wat U know about? seeing that brand new mother givin away her new born child...so what You know about how people love to perceive us wen we come to a brand new town..so what you know about? the Mekong River where all the Slave were shipped from.....What you know about lil kids wit Automatic an machine guns ready for war to get to their side.....wat u know about that Holy Place called Savannaket where bombs were dropped?...............................................SORRI IF U CAN"T UNDERSTAND MY SLANG BUT I rather speak the truth than try to get accepted by my Samakomlao peers, I never fell into the Hype where I should be ashame...............Elephant walks by with a kid on top, A young mother on the way to the Riceland to see her crops, she got a straw hat on carryin her babi, she bout to go to work where no one's goin pay her, we survive in this land because our mother is nature, so everybody stares when they see cars, no hospital but alot of bars, everyone gets drunk, take out his youngest son an show him how to use a gun..go ahead an throw stones at the cops, pick your guns up an let it POP!!long memory of people walking around wit no arms, Cambodian can relate to our struggle, raise in the world where people beleive dark is pure evil, Statue or African in the pacific, take a look at you skin an brown eyes, we ain't different

Dear friend now we don't call Lao Theung Lao Soung and Lao Loum any more, Lao have 49 xonh phao, 4 groups of dialect. This issue has already approved.

because in the old days being naked was not something to be ashame of. the west was the one that said being naked was wrong and shameful it dates back to their christian fairy tales.

I dont find lao theung offensive lao theung along with relatives called khmer and khmer leu the central highland of vietnam are all the native people of se asia. perhaps austroasiatic groups should be used instead. austroasiatic groups were there before buddhism the indian religion and customs came to se asia.

khmu live in northern laos and are part of the austroasiatic peoples. aka lao theung. the people depicted here are not khmu perhaps they belong to the So or Kuy austroasiatic groups.
