Well, some of the problems that may happen when dealing with International marriage:
Language BarrierDifferences in ValuesReligious ConflictsSex Role ExpectationsEconomic AdjustmentsFear of Abandonment by Family, Friends, SpousePolitical IssuesLegal Complications
To overcome these barriers, intercultural couples need to:
Learn about one another's cultures. Communicate well in at least one language. Be open and honest with their families.Accept that cultural roots go deep and that people don't change easily or quickly.Focus on the positives. Look at what they have in common with one another.Talk with one another about which traditions they want to carry on as a couple and with their children. Discuss their expectations in the areas of mealtimes, holidays, finances, sex, chores and roles. Look at why it is difficult to let go of a tradition or expectation. The key to a successful intercultural marriage is to develop understanding and patience.
nothing wrong to me for this marriage but the problem with lao over sea man married with lao girl in laos and bring to over sea country 80% problem I heard still nothing wrong if they love stay together if no love you go your way I go my way that all
it doesnt really matter as long as they love each other and treat each other nicely, and so what if hes westener not all american people are rich or nice have you ever heard of lisa stebic? and i still think asains are to much into the whole "MARY ASAIN ONLY" concept for example my parrents Who always tell me to MARY lao girl who can cook and clean and stuff but i say
I think the problem is family, language, culture and many things. It is not easy to communicate with the whole family, because we can only use English to communicate with each other. And, the persons that can speak with each other is the guy and his sisters.
Moving from one country to live in another country is not so easy too. When i was having holiday in Laos, I feel strange that I look like a monkey in a new world where don't they speak the same language as I do. I can only smile when i was with Laotian people. The good point of Laotian is that people r very gentle, kind and friendly. it is the most important point I love in Lao guy.
