China and Thailand supported H-mong providing them with weapons, training camps to harass Laos until late 90s. Did you know that?

It's a shame we think China come to Laos with good intentions. Thailand's probably normal about now.

good website. I can see that after Vietnames had spent alot of resources, money and men to invade cambodiab, they left in 1989. Because there is a strong resistent in the jungle of the country, and the cambodian also played well internationally. And now cambodian has democracy system. So it is clear my lao bro. if vietman still has a full control over cambodia, this country ecomonic would be the same as Laos!

good website i will read more later but from the sounds of ur guys response none of our neighbors wants lao to proser...
thats why we have to look after own intrests.. keep neighboring countries as friends and nothing more because they will only try to take us apart for there own benefits..

remember that my lao brothers. no one will love our country as much as Lao.

Exactly!!  It's our country.   Just like no one loves you more than your mom and dad.

After I have read this inf,now I get it.  In 1992, friend of mine was dating Hmong man. He told her every year he had to attend meeting in Minnesota.  He said this meeting was supported by Chinese goverment from China. Now, It makes sense that Vang Phoa can afford to buy weapons because Chinese provided them with moneys. Poor Jar and Poor Laos. Why our neighbor hate us(Laotian) so much?

Your country runs by Chinese. Are you crazy? Do you think they want you to love each other?

If you want to learn history I'd suggest you read a history book. There are some good ones.

The link lead to "Air Combat Information Group". A quick look at the site convinced me they aren't a bunch of history researchers.

im telling you guys,, our neighbors see how much potential we have...

they have soo much to gain when we are weak,, so they try to keep us weak.

but when we start supporting our own ppl for our own causes.... that will be great .

lao has the greatest potential. surrounding countries need us to be weak.

there scared of what we can become. and with each day, we move closer to one cause for our people. thats to see our nation become as great as all lao know it can be. im currently living abroad but i feel my home land calling for me.... the lao blood will never fade...

this day will come thats why its calld destiny.

That website ( Indochina database)  , it seems article related to the warfare in Laos during the Vietnam War. but Please read about the Lao history textbook which published by the Ministry of Education of Laos, you 'll find there are many thing difference from the book which the American or foreigner writers wrote it!! Sometime, I just don't want to read other history books excepting the books published in Laos, because i am afraid that it would make me confused which one is the truth and which one is lier   ?

okay as i was saying earlier i have not read the articles until today and as this guy above me wrote i dont want to be bias when i give my point of view.

according to those article laos ever since the fall of lanxang was never never neverr one nation... and that i belive is true!! when the french reestablished a government in laos even then lao was nt one country wiht one causes lao ppl i believe were all in a state of confusion and jus lost in all what was going onn it sounded as though there were 20 differebnt agendas going on at once. who can blame what happend to lao back then we had no unity once so everrr. so it was easy for foriegn powers to have influence on lao when lao haad no control on what went on inside oru own country.

as i said i dont want to be bias butt accrdign to this artcle. Laos now is more united then ever since lanxang fell into 3 different kingdoms... i fully supprot this government to unify lao and it is going in the right direction we were soo de[endant on vietbam and now look us we have come a long way from being dependant on anotehr country
were finally moving on but for that ot happen we need oru whoel country to be behind one cause.

as early as 2003 ther was a fraction of the government that broke off ??/ gjeeze is this lao ppl doing or some other forieng power trying to break our country apart again.
yess lao is not perfect but were not even fully united yett.

Dont be fool. You know where is laos communist party comes fromt? you have to read more and ask your self why our government are so close with the Viet? alot of lao`s natural ressources has been given to Viet. I hate to see my countrymen fooled by gov`propaganda.

nothing's given for "free" you know. They helped us with money, expertise and blood. Or are you saying we should have let Chinese/Thai backed Hmongs take over our country? Laos army was weak to say the least.

And even if you think being a puppet for the Chinese is better - the end result is the same. They'll suck us dry - send millions of their peasants to our country and we'll be a minority in our own country.

The current status-quo is good, Chinese and Vietnamese have to be nice to us to improve their influence.

Yes, many manything had been kept secret, our country has been bombed by the us air force and the us navy with the agreement of the former royal government as the north vietnam force carry ammunitions to the south of vietnam through the lao territory, without the vietnam trail in laos vietnam wouldl never win the war. who is thankful to whom ? it is an awsome question. as someone said earlier, we were weak, we have not enough people... did you know that after the agreement on the demarcation of laos between the french and thailand the first lao people census was made by french protectorat. the outcome is : all people from the north to the south of laos, we had only seven hundred thousand lao people including all minorities. yes, we need the help from others and vietnam should do more than others instead of stealing our precious wood and our land.
