How come we never hear of something like this magnitude built by LAO?
Why does it have to be Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Thai?

it's already 5+ years old, was built back in 2003.

looks nice, but in reality, people in the northern provinces are still sent to hospitals in Vientiane due to lack of expertise in the LPB hospital:

http://www.newsmekong.org/china_s_aid_flows_downstream_to_laos

...on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, a Sino-Lao Friendship Hospital completed in 2003 is known locally as ‘the Chinese Hospital’.

The Chinese government also donated hospital equipment and medical facilities and there are now plans to expand the facility to include a sanatorium for senior Lao officials. The road linking the hospital to Luang Prabang, a United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)-designated World Heritage Site, remains in terrible condition, but was scheduled to be upgraded with Chinese aid in 2006.

As follow-up technical assistance to the construction of the Luang Prabang Friendship Hospital, a team of six doctors, an administrator and an engineer from Yunnan No. 1 People’s Hospital arrived in Luang Prabang in March 2005. During the doctors’ one-year placement, they are expected to develop new medical services and train local staff.

The hospital has more than 200 staff, most of whom have only completed medical technical school.

“I teach medical knowledge and surgical skills twice a week,” says Dr Li. “But the extremely low pay -- the hospital president earns the highest monthly wage of about 400 yuan (50 dollars) -- drives most medical staff to do other businesses to earn more. This naturally leads to low efficiency at work and training.”
Even more astonishingly, he once found some French-manufactured barium meals (medical tests used to examine the condition of the digestive tract) that expired more than 30 years ago. Nobody here knows what barium meals are or how to use them, he says.

No sh*t!!  Laos is still a baby, can't do sh*t on it's own.  They don't know how to grow and just never gonna grow.  Always need someone to hold they hands.  The only thing they know how to do is eat, ****, and sleep.

What is the name of the Hospital?

This must be the private hospital, right? Only rich people can use it as it's so beautiful and nice view behind

Whatever who build it as long as our people there have choices to use it.

This hospital is new one in Luang Prabang, some sections offer very nice service. but only a few section who work for blood test is horrible and very bad attitudes/manners, especially women who worked on duty 2 Mar 2011 at giving birth section and woman who works on duty night 20 Aug 2011. when we need help these both women responsed us like the begger on the streets, and complaint behind me. I am not happy at all when saw this manners. If i have a choice for choosing hospital i would not come near by this hospital. They should change to be given better service.

No big deal there's just couple of bad nurses in this hospital, they treat you bad is better than get no treat at all like in the United States of America some hospital left a patient die in E.R. waiting room. Nurses, security officers and even Doctors just sitting and watching that person suffering to death in front of their eyes. That's real happen in the U.S.A.

This kinda Hospital, One floor and small building. We could have had back when 'Pha Chao Fah Ngum rule Lan Xang Phainam. So why are we so happy with this very small building ? Because this is the first time that Luang Phabang has kinda hospital ? or Is it the most beautiful and amazing that Luang Phabang residences have ever had ? I'm sorry I'm not here to look down on Luang Phabang residences or anything like that but to laugh at both governments, Royal government and PDR's government that haven't have the ability to built even very small hosapital for their own people. these two governments love to argues that they do this and they do that. at the end they're nothing but line up their pockets with the aid fund...

There're plenty of EXCELLENT and I mean EXCELLENT HOSPITALS, DOCTORS, AND NURSES in a good U. S. of A. okay my friend! I have Excellent family doctor who's also a board director of a big and well known hospital in Illinois. I have been his patient for over 20 years! He delivered all my babies at his practice hospital with amenity almost like the hotel stayed. With bed sheets changed every day, fresh towels twice a day or more upon your request, new toiletry daily, breakfast, lunch, dinner, fresh ice, water any time when patient pressed a " call Nurse button", get as many pillows & blanks as you like.  Even the baby stayed in their own nursery and the nurse bath and feed them for their mothers, unless the baby is breast feed or you want to take care of your own baby. At bed time a nurse comes and take your baby back to their nursery so you can have a good night sleep, but for me I request for my baby to sleep with me. Normally the nurse might be reluctant to fulfill such request do to doctors advise for a new mom to have plenty of rest after the delivery accept breast feed baby. Still there is an arrangement for restime for breast feed mom too at the time of your preferrence! Usually during afternoon nap that when the nurse comes and take your baby back to their nursery. I love it when my baby came back he smelled so good! Oh, and there's a recliner for a dad who might want to stay the with his wife. Excellen!!!

With this kind of tollerant no wonder most Lao Nork who visit or temperary stay in Laos seek neighboring countrie's hospital for medical treatments and even Lao Nai themselves did the same!!!!! That's really SUCKS for future of Lao medical practice! They deserve it anyways.....

I didn't mean all the Hospitals in The U.S.A. are bad, I was talking about some bad hospital, nurses, doctors and E.R. room staffs that left a patient suffered to dead in front of them. If you are in Illinois you should see the news from T.V. that they broadcast and showing that incident video to the world.

If we're talking about excellent family Doctor and Hospital I have that too. In 2008, the company that I was working for over 20 years was relocated to Mexico and I was unemployed and living with unemployment benefits for years. Ten months after I was on unemployment I had open heart surgery and stayed in Hospital two full weeks without Health Insurance. My family doctor and the Hospital gave me excellent treatment as same as a patient who has excellent Health Insurance to covert. The total my family doctor and Hospital bills that cost me over $122000.00 ( one hundred twenty two thousand dollar ) but, I didn't pay any Dime on those bills, I got Financial Assistant from the State Government helped me pay for.

I'm pretty sure that there probably is an incedent of fatality accure in a hospital place some where around the world, and not just in Illinois, U.S.A.  And I'm pretty sure that in other country, the hospital would just aloud the reporter air this unfortunate incident to the public like a dimocracy country such as U.S.A. Dream on my friend....

I remeberd of seeing that news on tv too, but didn't follow to find out the full coverage of the report. My guess is, it could be number of things that caused mishap.   Since the victum was Hispanic, I assumed there was miss communication between the victum's family memeber and hospital staff. This is what I've learn when dealling with doctors or hospital staff. Patient have to be their own advocate to get a proper diagnose or treatment!

Just in case you don't know  ok... I'll tell U something!  Those pple who've got degree as RN, PN etc...they didn't get from being study hard on this profession, instead, their parents bribed the teacher whole lots of $$$.  When graduated, they have no idea that they'll have to serve the patients.  Bottom line is:  They paid $$$ to get in, and paid a whole lots of $$$ to get out.  That's Lao style of Studying in Lao.

Pay to get in, and pay even more to get out.  The kids of poor farmers, study hard and very smart all year round, but can't pass a final exam.  don't have $$ to pay for their kids to continue education, so they can't go nowhere.  Bribery,  Bribery, Bribery

Lao style of education.   I'm sicked and fed-up w/that.

Bcoz Lao leaders will never contribute or donate their wealth to develop the country, unless it benefits them and their family.  They don't care about pple, or anything else.

The best they can do is....keep begging for more and put some if  not all in their pockets.  When puklut or kun thueng come down to visit rural village, pple in the village have to collect the $$$ and kill their cows to feed puklut.  That's how it works in Lao.  Don't believe me?  Go and see 4 yourself.  Hope you understand.......

for me?  I've been there & seen it all.

Thank, for posting, I just bought over $3000.00 for my wife a couple months ago at Roseville Shopping Mall.

I just wanted to know are these items are authentic? because the prices are not even close to the one that we bought, thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time to talk about this, I’m fervently about this and I appreciate studying this topic. Please, while you gain information, please update this web site with increased information. I’ve found it very helpful. There must be charging stations everywhere.
