Read this person posted about Laos furious

We arrived in Pakxe early the next morning, 6.30 am, and booked into a hotel. If Vientiane was non descript, Pakxe was bleak, depressing and full of absolutely nothing.

The brown mucky roads, sandy trachs where bikes go up and down and filthy shack buildings reminded us both of pictures we've seen of 3rd world Africa. The children here were walking around alone and filthy, and beggars walked around the streets carrying bags of rubbish with a totally lost look in their eyes.

The heat was intense and the smell of dirt and drains were totally overwhelming.  We headed for something to eat in a place that stretched from a one room warehouse onto the street, and that was the best we could find! Then to bed to try and get some rest. However, Niamh didn't feel too good after the sleep. Initially we put his down to tiredness but I think we both knew what was coming....The next two days were spent in our stuffy and windowless hotel room dealing with the ramifications of acute diarrhoea and (nearly projectile) vomiting! Once Niamh was feeling a little better we decided it was best to head back to Bangkok to get some antibiotics and see a doctor.

We booked our flight with Laos Airlines, we travelled to the shed which they called an airport and took off on the sand/tarmac runway, on our little mini-plane. (It only held 50 people.) After a short stop somewhere else in Laos we arrived in Bangkok for some decent food and some much needed medical attention!

D'ya know the way people usually imagine someone they don't like going to hell someday? I now imagine sending them to Paxse, which has to be just as bad.

Don't mind those low life back packers traveler blogs.  Most of them are dirt cheap and probably in Laos searching to get high on opium.  That's okay!!! One or two out of thousands said something bad about Laos.

some foreigners really need a professional travel guide service else
they can die from a mental condition, an unambiguously mind shock in which the mind
is unable to cop with the reality that the body is now in a foreign land with foreign people thus, resulting in anger and apathy.

If they are telling the truth, I guess it's ok.

What the hell you expect?  You should know already that Laos is still a 3rd world country.  And you decided to go to Pakxe and expect a 5 star hotels?  Please, next time stay your ass in Bangkok.

Please don't answer back with negative idea. Tourists have their right to express their idea or their comments. I think better give them an advise such as you may miss many excellent places in Parkse. Next time, I suggest that you need a professional guide tour and you will have an exciting experience and more relaxing in Parkse.
Please try to step back and listen to customer in order to solve the negative problem.
Please not try to fight back their idea if you need more tourists to visit Lao.

annoying people can not help but to complain about everything.
you give them 5 star hotel and they expect 6 star service.
it's never an ending process, they keep harassing you.

that is in their nature.

You just shut up!  Stop defending him.  The tourists should know what to expect when they go to Laos, especially outside Vientiane.  Most tourists do research anyway before they even take a trip.  This tourist should at least be a little courteous, instead he keeps running his mouth of how bad the place is.

I am 100% Laotian and I was born in Laos.  Couple years ago,my sister went to Laos to visit our cousins and friends in her birth place "Pakse". She had learned nothing different from the tourists.  Those couple just expressed their genuine feeling. When, she came back my sister felt so bad and very sad,and mad  in the same time to see young Laotian kids were begging for food in the small market.  What's wrong with our government?  Why are they taking good care only Vientiane and Luangprabang cities?  My friends please acknowledge these problems are existed in Paksey, our country, instead of getting mad and feeling embarrassed.  We need to come together to solve our problems for the next generation. Remember, you can run but you can't hide.

No country in this world has no beggars, even in Japan.
You have to learn this reality, and the government can not make every one rich
We have to first help ourself

Usualy peoply who can't and don't accept critics are very corrupted person. Especialy in the country like Laos. Those people are so corrupted, they took all the good things and try to camouflage( make look like) to the world that their world is perfect. But when someone discover the truth then those corrupted persons are so mad. That's truth Laos isn't that bad, but Laos is one of poorest country in the world. If we can't accept critics then we can't improve fellows dumb Lao, Sorry I am Lao and I am dumb too. Civilzed and smart people welcome critics and so they can improve around them.

That ain't shiit compared to Chicago, we have way more beggers than Laos anytime, we got hoodrats an hypes an feinds, people wit guns an straps an pipes, people just not acting right, crooked cops an where crooked business runs, we have snipers ready to snipe you from highrise buildings, we have drugs ready to spread out through the states, helicopter looking for murders, cops getting away with muders, cops taking your drugs and selling it back to you, we have dead people next to elevators an no one clean them up, just kick them out the way to get inside the house, we have kids climbing street light polls tring to knock down cameras, goons on every liquor store, teachers doin drugs, people killing each other over a damn Chicago Bulls hat, drive by where people is so used to where they don't even run anymore, bunch of different gangs just doing what they do..........so yea, Laos is heaven compared to America or even my city itself, but we will never make the news because that's just how it is living in a gangland......muders an kidnapp an all that bullshiet I can't beleive

Great Post Any mouse!

I clicked on the link, real funny blog. Checked out their story on Huay Xai too. Ripped off left and right, had horrible time, blah blah blah. Entertaining and it doesn't take long to read.

Part of the reason I love traveling in Laos and eating Lao food.
