A five-star hotel and the first entertainment complex in Laos, which also includes a casino, was inaugurated recently in Savannakhet province.

The Savan Vegas Hotel and Casino, which is located on the entrepot and intersection of the West-East economic corridor, would make an important contribution to the socio-economic development in Laos central region, local officials said.

Construction of the $US50 million Savan Vegas-hotel project started in August 2007.

It's the CASINO and it's not the entertainment complex but it is the MAFIA complex.

Anyway, I believed that no any Lao gambler can go in as it's too expensive to play gambling in there.

Most of them are from China, Thailand and Malaysia or Singapore

But I wish it will create manies jobs to local Lao peoples and the money that our Gov earn from Casino to help to develope Lao socials to all classes

Is it open for business yet?  How come I only see workers and all the tables are empty? Casino doesn't make any $$$ when tables are that empty.

Bad timing to be opening up casino due to the bad global economy.  Even bunch of big hotels in Las Vegas are laying off workers.

I am very much worried about the opening of Savanh Vegas. Nothing will be beneficial to local community. Instead, more and more number of local people will be addicted in gambling. Government should reassure there will not be social burden on Savannakhet people or its neighboring provinces. From my observation, only Savannakhet people are addicted to gambling. I am sure in the future, Savanankhet will be famous for Gambling...Thieve and crime will be on the rise.

I'm on government side to have this casino built, but I will be very happy to see strict regulations and rules from our government to prevent unhealthy social problems for Savanankhet.

The website is so lame for a five star hotel and entertainment.
I got no clue why they even put Elvis music in there.
For $50 million dollar, it sure doesn't look as nice and fancy. Some of the area look undone and its outside landscape needed much improvement. Food sevice looks more like one star service.

I though this was one of the "disease" the revolutionaries wanted to get rid off? Didn't they said that corruption and gambling was why the old regime was so bad? what irony...........

The decor is nice, but compared to other casinos, I think it's actually a bit ugly. It's just a wharehouse type building and one big room with stuff in it. There's so much empty space, and it is so rectangular. Overall, I'm not impressed....

compare it to Naga world in Cambodia, there are multiple stories and walkways -
