It is called Kai Louk, or duck egg embryo. I dare eat only the yellow part, but not the embryo one. What about you ?

I can eat about 10 of those eggs by myself.  Make sure you have some "jel som" and beerlao.

i usually tap open the top.
poke a hole and pour down the pepper/ginger sauce into the egg.

later, i would jam in with my spoon and fish out the meat.

nom. nom. mmmmm...good.....

This is not even a Lao original food. It was introduce to Southeast Asia from Filipino. How can you say "KHON LEUM SADD"?

Does eating this stuff make you a Laotian? I think not. It is like saying Laotian have flat nose and dark skin, which is not true.

Yummy. It tastes better with vinegar, chili and a bit of salt. In the Phillippines we call it "Balut."
