Laotian couple held over fake birth registration in Japan
Permalink

YOKOHAMA--A Laotian married couple and an acquaintance, all from Ayase, Kanagawa Prefecture, were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of making false statements in notarized documents after the couple registered the acquaintance's baby as their own to obtain special residency status, police said.

The husband illegally obtained special residency status under the pretext of raising their child.

The husband and wife are suspected of passing off the baby girl of their female acquaintance as their own and submitting foreign resident registration documents to the Hiratsuka municipal office around Sept. 18, 2007.

In April 2007, the husband was detained at an immigration facility to be deported after a hit-and-run accident in Hiratsuka involving the suspect led to the revelation that he was staying in Japan illegally.

In May 2007, the couple got married and the husband claimed that his wife was pregnant with their child. He subsequently obtained special residency status in July the same year. The wife has permanent residency after she was recognized as a refugee.

People in Laos would like nothing better than to work oversea because they will make even more money than they would in Thailand. But getting approved to do that is difficult. It is all about making money then go back to Laos to live like King.

Yeah but most of them never return to Laos. They end up in debt over in another country. Then they slave their life away to repay the money. It's better if Lao people just stay where they are and be happy for what they have. The hole idea of wanting more or needing more is an attachment that will never be satisfied.

It is about about making money to accumulate material wealth or making money so there would be food on the table and roof over the head.

Ignorant posts come from ignorant people.

This article is significant because Japan has the strictest immigration laws out of all the modern countries. Practically, they don't want low waged workers, they want degree holding people to work, and they want people with fluent Japanese. Japan is homogeneous, and often times Right-Wingers in Japan would use this couple as an example to bar immigration to their country.

The economy in Laos is so poor people have to find work OUTSIDE of the country. Instead of looking at the country, people will go off and blame individuals for leaving the country in search of a better life. HELLO? Do we not all want a better life? Do we all not want to be living comfortably with modern utilities? I believe, instead of going out of the country for all of this, all of this should come to the country, for everyone.

I do no blame people that leave the country to find a better job. I only blame the economy, the country, and the lack of opportunities they have in Laos.

I'm one of them.  I am a good example of it, working my asssss off trying to re-pay all the debts i piled up through the years.  It seems impossible now to re-pay them all and i'm thinking about file for chapter 11.  Now, I realized that I just have to be happy with what I have.

 It's "whole", not "hole.

Brother See, filing for chapter 11, 12 or 13 won’t do you any good unless you change from SeeHarHed to SeeMukHed-- : ) Frankly speaking, our wants have always been greater than our needs especially people in the industrial countries. It is nothing uncommon about it. If I may humbly explain to you in economic term on human desire for progressive prosperity, comfortability or affluent standard of living, then you would probably understand why you work your as$ off every day. This is where economics come into play. Undeniably, people’s want are numerous and varied. Biologically, we need only air, water, food, clothing, and shelter. In modern society, the desire for goods and services are sometimes beyond our financial allowances.  Unless you merely drink water from the creek and live in a muddy hut like destitute and impoverished people, you would be more significantly content with just basic needs.  But if you want a 56” flat-panel TV, Internet service with high speed, education, cell phone, health care, nice home, expensive car and all, you would have to think economically by balancing out your wants and your needs so that eventually you might be able to level them off.

From religious point of view, they tend to preach us to be happy with what we have, but I don’t think they meant you should not seek for your own potential; otherwise, our people in Laos should be riding on the back of the buffaloes and forget about driving cars or flying modern jets.  From the leadership’s perspective, they must have desires to strive for the betterment especially in the economical aspect of the country.  What I try to say though, you should not feel so bad about this just think of other solution. Society can’t function well without ambitious people like you and the country can also lead to a period of stagnation without intellectual aspiration from its leader. Other things are equal in this world, so that’s why in economics we call it “Ceteris Paribus” our compulsive wants may discouragingly sound bad to ourselves but in reality, they might be quite helpful to the society’s wellbeing.

Just be happy ok Brother SeeMukHed! cutewong.gif

It was based on my legitimate assumption that most of you do like pretty ass, so I purposely attached it in addition to my comments for brother SeeMukHed just to cheer him up.
