if that ever were the case which i hope laos does not get in that kind of situation.

i believe we should be oportunistic instead of choosing sides.

but no doubt that china is the stronger oponent so if it were two small frys going against one big guy it does not look good if we sided with vietnam,

but any way the best would be to keep lao out of it. and then grab some opportunity when the time is right. buttt

we all know if that were to happen there would be no way lao would be able to be left neutral because our country would be a leverage to who ever we help. willingly or unwillingly we are not strong enough to defend our borders to remain neutral.

but any way lao has to be strongerrrr!!! pro laos

Laos would be as strong as Isreal  malitary and economy as long as we are united. We are surrounded by the bigger countries, they help Laos but also want something in return specially they came in Lao in big amount of people to absorb the whole nation. If Lao takes Isreal  as the example we would survive . The United States could also make Laos as strong as Isreal without sending Million people to live in Laos like Vietnam and Chinese. The United States could  protect Laos the same way they protect  Japan and Dubai , and Kuwai..etc.. . Also don't have to worry that American people will come to Laos by the millions.   The United States is running by the people as you could see, also the time and the world has changed  for example the president Obama.

Reading all this I think actually it would be good for Laos to hav a little bit stronger Army.

One day the Chinese will take over Laos anyway and the Laos culure will stop to exist and there will be no defence at all.  Same as it happeded in Tibet.

if the chinese will teach vietnam a lesson like in 1979, i think Laos will stand in at the middle. Some people might think that Laos prefer to follow the vietnamese side due to the relationship between  Laos and vietnam are so deep and like  brothers, but I insist my view that, Laos won't be standing in neither side (Lao and Chin!) why?  because:

1. Laos is peaceful country and never want to have a War and support the War
2. Vietnam and China are very deep relationship at the present time, Vietnamese investing many projects as well as Chinese's
3. Laos will think about the future, Laos still get the support from both side Chinese and vietnamese when the conflict ends
4.Lao government  smart enought for not supporting, Lao government is always reasonable..

In USA, Laotian people get along so well with Vietnamese. Oversea, Chinese don't hang out with Laotian. It's better to attach with people who loves you. In Laos, Chinese leader won't allow their people to hang out with laos Nai. They don't social life with any race but their own.

Oh , yes  of  course and  indeed  Vietnamese  investing   1.  A lot of Vietnamese soldiers  and men  have a lot of sex with Lao women.  2.  Japanese company which are invested by the American investors , are going to build the transportation airplanes. They suppose to build the factory in Thailand because of the yellow shirt protesters shut down the airports and the unstable goverment and malitary coup and dictators in Thailand that made the American and Japanese investors nervous so they decise to build the factory in Vietnam. So Vietnam need  raw martail and natural resourses such as copper to feed their industries. So Vietnam invest 3.5 millions US doolars for copper mine that is a pocket change compare to billions of dollars project.  The investment could comes directly to Laos , the same way that the American dollars went into China and open markets  to America from China that made the China economy strong today. Look back in China not too long along China used to be starved just like north Korea.  Also south Korea today with the American aid for billions of dollars so now south Korea give aid to Laos  and south Korean profit and benefit from Lao farm land. Well, think soon Vietnam will turn to America for support  to prevent the China agressive against Vietnam because a lot of US dollars are invested in Vietnam.

teach a lesson != capture and control. So after the lesson is over, won't Vietnam find a reason to over run Laos and set up a Vietnam-friendly government like they did with Cambodia?

I'd rather stay neutral - just refuse and stay committed to being neutral (bring UN in). But if they do move troops over to our border, all we can do is protest :) not much effect though.

United States would never help Lao in That way.  Lao is the most bombed country in history of war by who? who is doing the clean up now?  when US have all the resources in the world.  Don't count on the US to help they see nothing in return or the return is not big enough for them.

If we act wisely we could stand neutral like landlocked country SWISS.
and according to similarity of geography and population , we can use Swiss as one of the example to follow interm of developing economic, infrastruture....

Do you really think by stay neutral will stop the Chinese arm force to go into laos . Watch and see soon when China naval sailing up and down the Vietnam sea and hutle the Vietnamese fishing baots and cruising and protal very close to Vietnamese border from the Lao border. Also Build a lot of big build in lao and no one working for them but chinese...Soon the inccident will occure that you have to choose whioch side you want to be ? Also do the Chinese people really hang around Lao people in Laos or just only with their own. I think they look at you and the poor Lao people no different from the Thai people from Bang KoK as second class citizen. Unless Vietnam let chinese to dominate like Lao goverment allow the Chinese do . But I don't think the Vietnamese will let the Chinese to do that in Vietnam.
