By the pronuciation of Thai accent. The level of the sound. I ever stay in Bangkok for two years so I'm quite sure.

I think she needs to have her own style I also so think that most of Lao songs sounded like Thai . Especially for this singer, I would say is the way that she pronounced the lyrics with Thai accent , and I don't even listen toThai music ever since I left Thailand ages ago. My suggest is for all this singers is to stop listening to an excessive amount of Thai musics and listen to European , and westerners more so it will help them musicians have better ideas to write their songs so it doesn't sound too corny and cheeze, but of course it should still have Laos style with modern sound with high quality and what I mean is with people who is actually playing instrument not from some computer either. There are many Lao nauk who can't wait to buy Lao cd not Lao sounding Thai.

I totally disagree with you about this I was born in Laos and I know very well that some of Lao words are similar to Thai words or even the same, if you listen to alot of Lao songs back then you will know the difference between sumnieng Lao & sumnieng Thai . The kind of music I'm referring to are from Voradeth, William, Keosilavong, and Khanthavanh. The melody from their songs were quite different from the melody in Thai songs and is not because those songs were old school. So far the oly group that I've been liten to from Laos that still sound more of Lao, in modern style are Cells, and Sook. From Lavender
The song is definitely Lao. The style is not Thai or Lao origin but really originated in the West. The only Lao-style music is Mo Lum.
A Falang band name Uluvus can sing more like Lao than Lady . The name of their song is Huk Gan Leo this song is what I would consider a modern Lao song . The singer pronounced every words in this song so perfictly just as when they were to speack a Lao language in Vientiene accent . Normally a good song writer does not change vowel sound or sylable of the words in the language the a song is being written from , because that could change the meaning of a word as well. I would encourage Lao artis listen to more American, English, and Australian musics rather than Thai to get a better dea for their musics. So it sound more professional
If a Central Thai sings in Mo Lum style, he/she will sound like Lao.
Mo lum is not the only style that we have in Lao musics, we also have Pheng Lao Sa Kon that were widely played in Vientiane, Luangpabang, Thakheck, Savanakhet, and so on late 50's

I disagree. I think they could use a bit more work on pronouncing tones. The accent is really noticable as well and words are a bit mumbled in the song. They don't sound 'more' lao than her.
but I'm not hating on them.. I actually find the band fascinating.
