More and more lao disigners and achitecture have no jobs or what happen with them, is it probably they request to have a high payment to disign and work at the temple? vietnamese worker and achitecture seems willing to do any job as long as get a reasonable payment or even cheap payment.
please don't hire vietnamese designer or worker to build our lao temple haha?
When I was in Laos I saw a group of VIETNAMESE construction workers at Wat Simuang in Vientiane. They were pouring concrete. I don't know what they were building.
For those who don't know, this temple was originally built in the 17th century. But the site is older, traced back during chao Fa Ngum's reign (1353-1373). In 1833 the temple was burnt down. The present temple was rebuilt in the 19th century by the Vietnamese and Chinese communities. So you can't call this temple new.
yes this temple is not new. think it's an interesting contribution by the Vietnamese community to the architectural heritage of Luang Prabang. when i visited it i was expecting more of a Mahayana Buddhist influence, like the temples in Vietnam. but nope, it's a Theravada temple like all the others in Laos, & the monks & novices living in there are all Lao. there's a Buddha footprint in this temple. & it's a good place to watch the sun set over the Mekong.
