luxury hotel, i wonder who normally go there to play and stay? if I had a chance, I would go there and drink a cup of juice, Could I ?
I visited Lao Casino or Lao Vegas in Savannakhet in December 2008 when it about to open....I saw many laotians there, but just to looking around, yes you can go there for a cup of coffee. The majority of people who gambling there were thai tourists....All the poker machines are in Bath NOT Kip. Now I don't know if laotians go there for gambling or not.
It will be better if the government not allow the Lao people and local people to gamble at all by very strickly enforce the law check the finger print and ID . Only allow the tourist and foreigner to gamble .Also set the professional counselor for the gamblers who will lose every things and willing to commit sucuide. Sad , gambling is the disease just like cancer and destroy a lot of good people and famlily around the world and Lao people don't need that and you could not compare to the US and other first world countries because their people are much well educated that Lao people and their government have more money for counsiling their people than Laos.
This is the most beautiful casino in the region, I think and yeah we are moving up very fast, and we will catch up our neigbors in the next 7 or 8 years.

Having casino in Laos soil, not necessary means Laos is moving up. Casino may bring all criminals: drug dealers, prosititudes, robberies.. etc. How much Local government collects tax from them? How they use tax money to improve quality of life of local residents?

The photo shown if im not mistaken was taken from Luangnamtha. Ive been inside and its quite expensive indeed. If you will look at the facade its looking so nice but inside the casino its not as grand at all. And the toilets are so filthy. Most of the players are Chinese, receptionist hardly speak english and not so much variety of games offered. No slot machine either. Im not a gambler though. Just had some sightseeing.
those were really AMAZING photos! that wasn't there when i visited savannakhet but that's one more reason to visit it again! i wonder if there are actually people who patronize that though since everything looks so grand - and expensive...
