The report on 27th of July, there are 109 cases of infected A(h1n1) in Laos and a person death.
new flu virus a(h1n1) has found in 8 provinces in Laos  ( Capital vientiane, Vientian province, Luangprabang, Khammuane, Borlikhamxay Savanakhet ,champasack and Salavan province.

Do you think the number of infected people will be rising ? what does Lao government should do to make sure that the coming seagame is safe?

If we don't close the country, it is hard to control the spread,
but that would affect the tourism

This could spell DISASTER for Sea games.

______________

AH1N1 although highly communicable and reached pandemic level, it does not mean it will result to a disaster, particularly during the SEA Games. One reason is most likely people who will be coming to Laos have already had AH1N1 in their own country and received advice and iformation from their own health authorities. The fact that they can afford to buy fly to VNT to watch the competition means that they most likely have access to information. So more or less they know well how to prevent getting infected or aware already on what to do when they get sick. Second, this illness is highly preventable provided that individuals will practice proper hygiene, hand washing and coughing and sneezing etiquette.

In short, the government has to be more agressive in its health information campaign both for local and foreign individuals, should be fast in responding and taking care of anyone who is found to manifest the illness, make sure that there is enough facility nearby to handle confirmed cases and maintain a very active and sensitive surveillance for flu-like illnesses. And everybody should also cooperate and play their role to prevent widespread infection.

So far, we should be thankful because AH1N1 is still relatively a mild infection, compared to other previous pandemics.

Besides, health authorities will surely get technical assistance and pressure from international agencies to make sure the country is prepared. Have trust! No need to create undue panic.
